The only thing that fixed my icons being covered was running RealVGA in 96dpi. There is a link somewhere in this thread to a thread on XDA with instructions how to get RealVGA working on the Epix.

If you go to Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks, you can change it from "My WAP Networks" to "My Work Network" or whatever network you have the WIFI setup on correct?

This way it wont disable your phone, but a few more steps.

What is the proper way to calibrate the touchscreen? With the stylus or with your finger? I have a hard time clicking on little things. The icons are pretty easy to click on, but a lot of scroll bars take several trys with my thumb/finger.

There was some XML linked in here that fixed it without realvga. posts in the 600's seem to ring a bell...

I think so. Running the AppUnlock CAB file linked in early in this thread may have played a role too.

Cortez (or was it Player?) had some good suggestions on calibration in this thread too. I used the stylus when I did it and clicked just slightly to the left when calibrating the two spots on the right hand side. Worked great. I have pretty big fingers, so I usually try and use a fingernail to click...

    Wap.cingular Error

    hI,

just got a epix I907 and had it unlocked. I am on the fido network here in Canada. I have setup my internet connection and I can get my mail downloaded and surf the internet using skyfire (which is great)

I loaded Garmin xt gps software and it works perfectly BUT in the middle of working I keep getting the error that it is trying to dial out to ims.cingularconnection and it cannot connect. I have searched everywhere on this phone and no where do I have programmed for cingular connection. This only happens when I am using garmin xt software Is there a way to figure out how to disable this annoying option.

My next question is. I am using outlook for my email and I have told the program to download the entire message. Yet when I look at the incoming email it says that the picture have been blocked and if I click on it, it will say that it is downloading images. How can I set it up to see all the images when it downloads the email ?

Disable the data options in setup.

Cortez got the calibration right. When you calibrate the touchscreen, there are 5 touch points; Center, TopLeft, BottomLeft, BottomRight, TopRight.

What I do, is touch the crosshair in the center for the center and both points for the left side. For the BottomRight and TopRight, I tap the crosshair's leftmost line; here: -->+

That will make it easier to tap the X button to close apps. Also I find it easier to do a "thumb-roll". With the thumb off the screen, press down and roll it inward until it grabs the desired onscreen control.

This method works great for the start menu, X, and scroll bars.

Make sure you download the MUST HAVE tweaks I've posted here:
    FTouchSL, VolFix, and chgFingerMouse

These will make your life so much easier.

I also thought the full Manilla files with the fixed homescreen.xml was at post #398 or something. The best way to find it is to search this thread (not the forum) for keywords "homescreen" "manilla" "xml", etc.

If only one is enabled at a time, it works flawlessly. Very frustrating.
Running Wifi and 3G/GPSR DOES NOT cause my phone to crash. I cannot find a pattern as today it locked up when I took it out from my case trying to make a call. I might call AT&T to see if I can exchange for a different one as I had it for two months now and it probably locked up at least 10 times. Since you have the same problem without installing any thing, it might be the phone itself.

I called AT&T warranty department and another Epix is on its way to my house. Hopefully I won't have this locked up problem. I will report when it arrives.

On the S2U2 screen, what does it mean when the white box (usually indicating 3G, E, or G) has a big 'H' in it?

Never heard of that. Where does it rank among 3G, E, and G as far as data speed?

f a s t.... you'll generally see the "H" when you're downloading data for the web, etc, on your phone... AT&T is operating a 3G/HSDPA network, called BroadbandConnect, currently in most metropolitan markets. It provides average download speeds of around 1.7 megabits per second (Mbit/s), with bursts up to 3.6 megabits per second (Mbit/s).

Lightbulb Tether Epix/Use as wireless modem

    Hey all,

I created a CAB file that lets you use your Epix as a wireless modem for your Windows computer/laptop.

player911 posted this registry hack earlier in this thread, but I created a CAB file that performs the registry change so you dont have to mess around with a registry editor (its also easily reversible by uninstalling the program).

Thanks to everyone in the forum for figuring this hack out!

Beside this, I found another bug that my phone would display notification message on screen 'You have 1 missed call', 'you have new voicemail', 'you have new email' even if I had unchecked the "display message on screen" for these in the sound and notifications set up. Can someone confirm this? Thanks.

This forum is really cool and informative. Good job everyone. I would like to also tell of my experience with my phone. My Epix would often stop working for no reason (black screen), requiring me to pull the battery. When I took it into the store, I asked the guy if they've had many returns for this reason. He assured me that this problem was isolated to my particular phone. I've now had my second Epix for about a month and I still have the problem although less frequently.

Quick questions: Do these batteries have a memory? Should I drain it all the way before I charge it? I have the old one from my Blackjack and it still works pretty good.

I have the same problem and so do a few other here. I do not think the battery has anything to do with this. What have you installed or hacked? I have another Epix replacement that will be here anytime today. I will let you know if the problem is still there. Hopefully NOT.
