but where can you find the admin.exe. I couldn't find it inside the windows folder?
I see it with Resco File Explorer, but not with File Explorer that comes on the Epix. The link to put a shortcut in your Start Menu should work whether the file is visible or not.

Okay, so here's a fun little hack. That little program WVGA3FIX did nothing (NOTHING!) for me, but I was able to see the full screen of the game Distant Galaxies by doing the following:
Using PHM Registry Editor, go t o \HKLM\Drivers\Display\GPE .
Modify LogicalPixelsX and LogicalPixelsY to be 100 (from 128).
The screen is (almost) beautiful, everything is smaller, I feel like I have so much more space. Distant Galaxies plays fine. HOWEVER, the Start bar is screwed up, with some icons not displaying. AND, when I'm exploring Programs, icons don't line up with the description of the shortcut, and for some bizzare reason, I coun't get Task Manager to run.
Using 128 for X and 100 for Y made it so that my Start bar had all it's icons (though things were a little squished), things worked right when exploring Programs, and Task Manager ran fine. HOWEVER, Distant Galaxies wouldn't let me tap on the screen for the menus, and the screen became corrupt...
This hack will undoubtedly cause you ALL SORTS OF TROUBLE!!! And you'll probably try it anyway.
WARNING!: Don't try setting the values to 320. When I did this, my menu and Start bars ended up taking up most of the screen, I couldn't navigate to anything, (and because I hadn't allowed TAPI, I couldn't fix it remotly via Mobile Registery Editor), and I ended up having to Hard Reset my device (bummer dude!).
I realize this is more a tweaking/hacking thread but since it involves so many Epix experts and users, I figure it's worth a shot to ask. I need to fill some niches applicationwise, and I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction.
First of all, Voice Command is a start, but what I'd really like is speech-to-text capability, like MyCaption offers. If an underpowered device like a BlackBerry can handle it, surely the Epix can.
Next, while I'm pretty sure it's not going to be easy integrating such a thing into the GUI, anyone know of some form of virtual post-it notes or a similar, nontraditional to-do/notification/reminder tool? I have to-do lists and memos to myself scattered all over creation, and I'm dysexecutive enough that 90% of them end up relegated to the To-Do/Notes application where I only remember to attend to them after I have another thought to start a new one.
I also have a general reghacking query: I don't possess Outlook (I've beefed about this before and I can't afford to spend ~$500 per machine as I'd need OneNote too) and thankfully my schedule's not complex enough yet to necessitate it. But since Pocket Outlook is the basis for my contact and calendar activities on the Epix, I'd like to be able to change the default contact detail categories; for example, switching the Account field to something more useful, like Eye Colour or Blood Type. Is such a hack doable, will it stick, and what if I wanted to change the field's form input type, from text field to image or checkbox?
Accessories: Anyone use a BodyGuardz or InvisiShield or whatever on their Epix? Do these introduce any difficulties with the touchscreen, and will they keep dust and grit out of the keyboard?
One last thing for now - belt holsters. Anyone found a non-clip open swivel holster with good retention and rigidity? I find myself walking around like Gomer Pyle whenever I sit down or stand up.

outlook comes free with 1and1.com exchange hosting (the one i'm using). i'm sure other exchange hosts offer it free as well. and once you use exchange with winmo, you'll never go back to pop email again.
Regarding accessories Restroom, I have the Invisishield on my Epix and it does not affect the touchscreen for me. The keyboard is the only part that the skin does not cover so dirt and grime will still get in there.

I saw the hack for changing dp values and was wondering what to change them to. I would like to raise the bluetooth volume and the ring volume to make them louder, yet at the same time i dont want to ruin the speaker. What are some safe numbers that some of you have tried? Thanks in advance for your help.
I've been reading this thread for quite a while now, and I was able to install Manila2D with realVGA@96dpi in my i780 (almost the same as Epix), but I always get the same problem: I can get weather updates to my city It keeps returning that is "Unable to retrieve data for selected city"
I live at Aveiro - Portugal, and the only default cities in manila are Porto, Amadora and Lisbon... For those I can get weather data without a problem, but for the citie were I live in I just can't Is there any patch so that we can retrieve weather data for cities other than the manila2d default ones?

I take it that you have the full body shield (as opposed to just the screen protector) and it doesn't go in between the keys?
I was looking at getting the full body skin, but if it doesn't do anything for the keys, then I don't know if the extra $10 or so is worth it (as opposed to just the screen protector).
That's correct. It covers everything except for in between the keys. It is definitely durable as I can be hard on my phone sometimes and like having the phone 95% protected. I got two skins for $25 which worked out good for me as my wife has the same phone.
some people are continuing to have the same issues with the ring volume, i actually found a solution and posted it on the att wireless forums but here is my post:
"Ok guys i found a fix for the epix's ring volume problem. note that this WILL NOT solve the ascending ring problem (which seems to be hard programmed into the phone). btw attempting to change settings then going to listen to an mp3 or playing the ringtone from sounds and settings WILL NOT reflect how it will sound when the phone actually rings, there seems to be some sort of disconnect programming wise between the settings and the actual ring. here are the settings and FYI use at your own risk i am not liable for anything that might happen from this.
To increase ring volume to a reasonable loudness:
go to your phone keypad, dial *#0002*28346# then go to menu>normal>handset
in the settings. change DAC to 3db or 4.5db (i have mine on 4.5db since i keep mine in a case and its muffled a little). also change the RVOL to 12db. this works absolutely AMAZING. After making any and all changes you must always click menu>apply then perform a soft reset (power down then power up) to allow the settings to take affect. If you have any questions or problems just let me know.
the ring volume was one thing that was going to make me return the phone but with this fix it is definitly alot better. now only if someone could tell me how to get rid of the ascending ring that would be great (and no dont tell me to go to sound settings and take it off increasing ring because this does absolutely nothing)
Comments and suggestions are welcome"
i originally found the info on mysamsungepix.com but the suggestions for the value changes were incorrect so i tested out some different settings and that is what i came up with that works the best for me. so now im basically hoping someone can tell me how to solve the ascending ringtone issue lol since i enjoy hearing my mp3 ringtone from the start
also to player and cortez and all the others you guys have done an absolutely amazing job at posting fixes/solutions/tweaks/hacks for the epix.....THANK YOU!
first..... thanks for all the great posts. I've been reading this thread for days and there's a lot of useful information.
The recurring problem I'm having with my Epix concerns the speaker and using voice dialing. Almost everyday, sometime twice a day, my speaker quits working....no volume at all. I have to reboot the phone each time. I use the voice dialing a lot and since it works through the speaker that function doesn't work.
I'm wondering if this is an Epix problem or a WinMo problem. Anybody else having this problem???

if you're within the 30 day window EXCHANGE IT FOR ANOTHER ONE....QUICK!!! this is not a WinMo problem (in my opinion).
