I'm not concerned with my External Power Settings - that's just when the phone is plugged in to charge.

I'm really confused on what you're saying. The only issue I'm having with Zenyee now is when a 2nd SMS comes to the phone, the phone is activated, alerts me, but then the custom LED stops blinking. It works great for 1 SMS, but for more than 1 it fails.

    Hmm,

I'm not sure about that one, the notif light blinks just fine regardless of how many messages i receive. My light does blink erratically for SMS, but I think that's the messed up epix messaging blinker and notif telling the phone to blink simultaneously.

Oddly, the notification light blinks normally for missed calls, however missed calles does not have a known setting reset issue with notifications, only reminders, sms, and e-mail does.

In the Epix Sounds & Notifications Settings, I have the "Flash light for..." unchecked. So I wouldn't think its conflicting in that way.

Haha.. I tested it again with 2 SMS messages, and it continued to blink this time! Very weird, I'm positive it wasn't doing that earlier. 3 messages seems to work now as well.

I guess I'm happy.. for now

They know all about it, trust me. It always amazes me when you call a company like Samsung to complain about a design flaw or bug in one of their products - and they claim it's the first they've heard of it, despite forums all over the web being full of the same complaint. As if you were the first one to call and tell them!

No, they tell you that it's the first they've heard simply to get out of doing anything about it. They don't care about fixing existing issues once they've sold the phone to you - and they know that the vast majority of new sales are going to be from people who never read online forums and hence won't know about the problems. We can ***** about it all we like here - they don't care. Why set a team of programmers onto the small task of fixing something like the ascending ringtone issue, when they know that they won't profit a cent by doing so?

Samsung will not open any sort of case or do anything to notify their engineers about this problem. It appears some former management from Motorola is now employed at Samsung. Even if they fix all these problems now I am done with them for life. Bunch of useless slackers, once they've got your money, they have no interest in helping anyone out.
What amazes me is the fact that they don't even test their phones for usability before releasing them. They could have given an Epix to say, ten people for a couple of weeks and told them, "come back and tell us how you got along." Now those ten people would have come back and said, "I'm getting no email notifications. The ringtone is too low out of the box. The ascending ringtone is quiet for far too many rings and I'm missing calls. The screen turns itself on randomly for no reason."

And then it would have been a simple exercise to correct these things before release. But they don't do that. Technology these days is designed and created by a bunch of egg heads working in laboratory conditions which bear no resemblance to the conditions in which people are going to use the phone. Sure, the ringtone sounds adequate to them, but did they stop for one minute to think about someone who needs to take calls on the streets of Manhattan? Of course not! That's a level of "design" that they're not prepared to go into.

It's not just Samsung folks, it's everyone. I don't think I've heard of a phone, a computer or anything else which doesn't have threads like these associated with it. The trouble is that the morons who are put in charge of these projects just don't take the pride in their work that people used to. You'd think they'd sit around a table first and say "OK. This is a phone. What do people use phones for? What qualities are essential to a phone? What should be our priority? People need to hear them ring. It's a phone, after all. OK so it needs to have a good ringtone that people can hear. Next, they will use them for email. OK, so it should beep to notify the user of emails."

And so on. But this is not what happens. They have no idea how to coordinate a project in order to create a winning product. They're working in separate rooms on their separate projects, with little to no communication. There seems to be no consolidation, no thoughtful collaboration, no brainstorming sessions, no usability testing. The agenda is: "bodge a phone together to a set of specifications which look good on paper and get it on the shelves as quickly as possible. If there's problems with it, who cares? People will put up with it for a few months and then buy our next impressive looking heap of junk."

There is no testing, no thought. Look at Microsoft and Windows Mobile. How long have people been telling them that they need to sync multiple calendars to Mobile Outlook? This is such basic functionality for business users that it's simply incredible that nobody at Microsoft has gotten it together to implement such a basic function. They don't care how many people request it.

Sorry for the long rant but I too am sick to ******* death with all the problems on the Epix. It's not just Samsung's phone, it's AT&T too. What in the hell possessed them to think that one personal email account would be enough for XPress mail? It's 2009 - do they not even stop to think that people need emails from more than one account? A bunch of idiots are running the show.

The sad thing is that this is otherwise a great phone. I love the screen and the optical mouse. It has the potential to be snappy and a joy to use. It feels great. But if all Samsung are going to do is release one notification patch and then completely shut off the users, then I guess all we can do is buy a phone from a different company next time and tell as many people as possible to do the same.

By the way, is someone able to tell me why my Epix comes out of standby every ten minutes or so of its own accord? It's very annoying.

So far from the last day or so I've been using Zenyee Notif Blinker, I'd say it sucks. It is extremely inconsistent - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it stops blinking after a 2nd SMS is received, sometimes it doesn't. Somtimes it stops blinking after 2-3 minutes, sometimes it goes the full duration.

I installed the trial of mRing today after reading from someone that it deals with the ascending ring problem. It doesn't. The problem still exists. I do like the scheduler in mRing which lets you select different tones for certain times, but it's not going to be worth $19.99 to me if it doesn't fix the ascending ring.

I've been eyeing this phone for a while now and finally picked it up few days ago. So far i'm in love with the phone. Windows mobile is great, nice querty keyboard, fast processer, good amount of ram, and a very sleek design. I'm a long time Treo user but the new Palm Pro just doesn't impress me enough. The epix does have its flaws but its hard not to like this phone.

Is there anyway to adjust the sensitivity of the screen? It seems like i always have to press down hard on the screen.

You can fix the Increasing Ring issue quite easily... just at the expense of overriding the Email Notification Patch Personally, I prioritized the Email Notification over the loud ringer.. not a big deal to me. Have you guys tried raising the ringer/speaker volume in the sounds control utility?

i've tried everything with the sound control, can you explain more about the email patch.

Also had a question about getting 3g connection. My epix is unlocked and i'm under t-mobiles service. I have the unlimited internet connection plan but i wanted to know if the epix supports 3g connection from the t-mobile network? Would i have to get a specific data plan from tmobile to get 3g connection?

you will not get 3G speeds with the Epix on T-Mobile because T-Mobile uses the 1700 band. the Epix has the 850/1900/2100 3G bands.
