Yes. I have tried several different Program Com Ports and Baud Rates. Applications can find the GPS unit just fine, but just will not find satellites. Now if I change the Hardware port from COM9, they will fail to initialize the GPS unit.
GPS Test never gets past GPS Starting Up... Fix is 1D.
I'm experiencing the same issue, can't find the satellites regardless of what port combinations I use. Both Google Maps and Garmin XT were working fine before the ID1 update, but hey at least I can sync Outlook Notes now!
I have a quick question. I want to do the update to the epix. If I do a backup using sprite and then do the updates can I use the backup I created to restore back to the phone ? Does the Sprite backup the registry as well or just the programs ?
I look forward to hearing from anyone out there who can advice me before I do this update.
I just got an i780 for my girlfriend and am slowly trawling through this thread. Ive updated it to WinMo 6.1, got Manilla2D going as the home screen, using FTouchSL for finger scrolling, and using AEBPlus to remap some buttons.
What im having trouble with is remapping the volume up/down keys. Manilla2D seems to intercept the volume keys before they can get to AE Button so it cant do anything with them.
I was just wondering if anyone has any success with remapping volume rocker keys when also using Manilla2D? I saw a VolFix thing back on page 20 of the thread but it wasnt mentioned whether it allowed mapping those keys to functions other than scroll up/down and whether that worked if you had Manilla2D and it's volume manager that intercepts these keys
I also cant assign anything to long press OK (always brings up the samsung task manager which only shows a row of program icons and closes after you select one item to close, or close all). I set AEBPlus to make long press OK close the current app, but it doesnt fire - it always still just brings up the crappy task manager. I have gotten around this slightly by pointing the "task manager" shortcut in windows directory, to a more functional task manager and now it does execute that one. But id still prefer to change this button entirely if i could. Ive set double press OK to close the current app for the meantime.
I have a similar problem with the long press of the GPS button - no matter what its mapped to with AEBPlus, it always launches the Data Connection Manager
I am not sure if these unchangeable long press OK and long press GPS assignments are part of the default WM6.1 samsung build or the custom ROM i flashed onto it
Any tips would be much appreciated
I think my post above got lost in the plethora of GPS posts... Can any one help me with customising the volume buttons when also using Manilla 2D which seems to intercept them before AEButton can?
Interesting...do you see your device.exe usage drop back to around 5% after you close out google maps? Problem I have is that even with gmaps closed, device.exe is dragging at 70% which leads to TURBO BATTERY DRAIN - only thing that fixes it is a softreset...
In any case, even 30% is waaay to high...on my other phone (fuze) with gmaps, device.exe is literally pulling 0-2% CPU when searching AND locked to 6 sats (which is locks to in about 4 seconds).
I'm noticing the same thing now. This morning I checked and device.exe was at 0%. After firing up google maps it hovered around 70 even with it closed out. After we had the discussion I noticed battery life seemed pretty abysmal too, it's been ok the last 24 hours or so but I haven't used google maps either...

How long did you wait? It took like 10 minutes for me to start getting signal since it was a fresh cold start. I just sat the phone in a window and left it.
Both Google Maps and GPS Test were given about 20 min on several occasions. I have allowed Garmin about 45 min on one occasion.
I too am noticing the device.exe CPU usage spiking to 60% or more after launching a GPS-aware application. I have to restart the phone to get it back to normal. I haven't allowed it to stay at 60%+ for long enough to see if it affects battery life.
I noticed after the update, my GPS picks up a signal almost right away where as before, I could go for 30 mins without locking onto a satellite. Right now, I'm getting a lock on 10 satellites INSIDE my house.
One problem that's bugging me is that I can't get IE to work anymore. I'm with Fido so I have to make changes to the connection settings. Google maps and everything else that use the 3G connection works fine but IE doesn't work. I remember having this issue when I first got the phone but I somehow got it working. Now I either don't remember how I did it or what I did doesn't work with this update.
And does anyone have a link to the Windows Live installer CAB?

Try setting Settings -> Connections -> Proxy Manager to the opposite of whatever it is now to see if that works. I have to do that sometimes to get IE to work over my WIFI connection.
Sweet, that worked... but I've noticed a few more bugs... now that IE is working, I can't download big files like Install CABs. Says the proxy can't handle files bigger than 2 megs.
I'm too, keyboard doesn't pop up after installed the epix performance cab 0.4
I've seen the same thing where the SIP keyboard doesn't auto-pop up, but it won't come up at all. This is with the performance cab (non medianet one) and the ID1 update. Don't remember if the SIP came up before ID1 since I've been focusing on my dead GPS
I was going to msg Storm, but I believe he still may be on a well-deserved vacation (earlier post in the thread) for a few weeks.
Ever Since I Updated With The "fix", I Have A Problem Syncing Outlook With My Phone. Everytime Time I Connect It Says Attention Needed By Outlook. Does Anyone Else Have This Problem? Does Anyone Have A Solution?
