damn, that's really unfortunate...I'm really hating myself at the moment because I had the phone w/o the ID1 update, but I dropped it on concrete and had it replaced with a phone that did come with the update....
I cant get Grandprix to recognize my phone. I follow the directions, it just says 'PDA Device not found' and my phone boots back into 6.1 once I turn it on.
I am on Windows 7 and am using the Vista version of Grandprix.
Install Samsung Modem Drivers (if you did the ID1 update, you probably already did this)
Turn USB Mode to Modem (This is really just part of the modem installation process...the drivers don't really install until you plug the phone in in modem mode)
Turn USB Mode back to ActiveSync
Unplug phone, turn off
Open GrandPrix (Search xda for the file)
Click PDA and choose the pda.bin file
Uncheck "Format large..."
Click Detect
Plug in phone and turn on
It should detect the phone - click "Start Downloading"
Then had to put Grandprix into XP SP3 compatibility mode in order for it to not get the "usdl4 has stopped working" error.
The only real bug with 6.5 that I've noticed is the optical mouse distortion of the screen - very weird. I do love it, but some of the major issues with the Epix still exist.
The on-screen notification settings still revert after a restart. I believe the ascending ring has been fixed..? Haven't tested that much though.
I'm the guy who set up the epix wiki site... but will be taking it down in the next couple of months or so. I no longer own an Epix, and the web host I use to host the site also is running another project of mine that has taken off, so I need all of the bandwidth I can per month for that site.
If somebody is interested in hosting on their own site, let me know, and I can ZIP of all of the source and send it your way. Otherwise, it won't be around much longer after October or so.
- EDIT -
If you want to contact me about this, send something to webmaster@epixwiki.com.

I have had a epix now for almost a year and yes I have updated to ID1 and have the GPS problems and the audio problems. I am waiting to see if samsung makes goods on the rumours I have heard that there is an upgrade and fixes to v6.5. we will see otherwise I am off to the bb world.
In the meantime I have a customer and a good friend who has an Epix BUT WITHOUT the upgrade is he is still PRE ID1.
If someone want to guide me on how to grab and strip the rom maybe we can figure out how to reverse the phone to this version or cook a better rom.
