I'm sure this has been answered somewhere in this thread, but just in case it hasn't, here is how to silence the camera and camcorder sounds:
First, download and unzip the file I linked to below. Then, copy the three extracted files to the Windows directory on your Epix. In the camera options, set the shutter sound to "Ding Dong" and the camcorder sound to "Woman 1." You should have no more annoying sounds when taking pictures/video.
Not sure if anyone here experiencing this with the Epix. I have it locked (holding down the red end key) and put it in my horizontal leather pouch, and three times it happenned that when I took the phone out, it was completely off, nohing on screen, no power, press any key or even hold the side power key does not turn it on. I had to remove the battery, put it back in then power it on. What I have installed are: the AppUnlock, PHM Regedit, WMA Profiles, M2DC, Skyfire,Vicsoft KeySwop,Resco file explorer, PocketCM Contact, FTouchSL, Samsung Silent Startup, Google Search, and chFingerMouse. I am no longer use M2DC Home screen but the Today Plus that comes with the phone. Any idea why it turned itself completely off and nothing works till battery removal? Thanks.
I am new to this forum and i am not sure I am posting in the right place so pls forgive me.
I just got my new epix last night and set it up. Outlook works perfectly if you push send and receive. i have my outlook set for every 5 minutes to pick up my mail BUT it does not move. I have to manually pick it up. I have deleted my account and recreated it but this still does not help.
I also found that IE does not work either for the 3G internet. I had to download Opera and this works perfectly.
Does anyone know of any issue or hacks for this ?
By the way I am on Fido network here in canada.

Not sure if you found the solution yourself yet?!? Basically the Epix is locked to AT&T for Internet. A simple registry hack will unlock it:
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Comm \ ConnMgr \ Destinations
There you will find My WAP Network, Click that and find the Read Only key and change it to zero. Save it and go to you Connections and you will be able to access the internet settings.
Once you've done this, create a new connection called Fido and set the access point to internet.fido.ca
Also make sure that in the Proxy Settings (Settings->Connections->Proxy Manager ) that you set it to "do not use a proxy server").
That should do it.
There is another hack for tethering but doesn't look like you're doing any of that.

Generally I have found that usually one bad app (or version of an app) can sometimes cause lockups and crashes -- for me the culprit was S2U2 v1.35 and I had to go back to v1.33 -- with the same problem you described (screen off and had to replace battery to restart).
Even though it's tedious, what I would recommend is uninstalling your apps in reverse order (i.e. most recently installed first) to see if you can stop the problem from happening. Once you have identified the program check to see if you have the latest and either upgrade or downgrade (or ditch) the program as necessary.
If none of those things work, you may need a hard reset, or worse yet an exchange (as last resort).
I have a few issues with Manilla 2d that I didnt see in this thread.
1) Weather does not have my city, or any cities near me. How can I add a city that isnt listed in the original list?
2) How can I change the analog clock to a digital or the flip clock?
3) On the people tab, when I click add, it takes me to my contacts, I select a contact and a number, next I choose a photo, then it goes back to the people screen and does not add the contact to the list. It still says add and they are all blank.
4) Same thing with the programs tab. I choose the program I want, then click select, and it takes me back to a blank programs tab.
I am using the XML in post 593.

Talk about Deva Vu! The same thing happen to me last Wednesday. I experience the issue 4 times that day. Then it happened again on Friday morning. I always use my cell phone as my alarm, so I was late for work because of that. I did a hard reset and I'm hoping the hard reset will fix the issue because this is driving me crazy. The apps I have are AppUnlock, PHM Regedit, Skyfire, Opera Mobile, and Goggle maps.

I opened the HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml and added the location:

It lets me select it, it tries to update, and says "Unable to retrieve data for selected cities"

It was the 'Samsung Silent Startup' program that caused it to crash. After removing it, my Epix is back to normal working condition so far for more than 24hrs. The hard reset would fix it, but I do not want to start all over again. Thank you.
Hey im doing the hide sim contact trick from the registry. But my problem is that when i turn off my phone and turn it back on, they show up again and i gotta change the registry key again. Am i doing something wrong? It not a biggie because it only take 5 seconds to do and i dont ever turn off my phone, its when my phone locks up or freezes that i have to do it.

is that the CAB installer i posted? All it does is swap out the sound files.. hrm... I am using exchange email on my phone that forces PIN security so i cant do the auto-lock holding down the hang-up button to test it. Can you download the updated hack "Clean Startup & Shutdown" and see if it has the same problem?
