should have made it bigger, barely noticed it. T-Mobile should've released commercials BEFORE the launch date and not just the day after. everytime I said i was waiting for my G1, people were really confused what I was talking about

This has always been how Google does things on their websites, with the little sentences underneath the search box.
They're NOT going to change it just because the G1 launched.

Yeah they always change their image logo for special occasions, are creative for things like April Fools and all that, I was expecting more...

Just tossing this out there as food for thought:

Gmail's decision in the beginning to only allow new accounts by way of invitation made people feel like they were part of a special club. They seem to prefer more of an underground route, allowing people to feel like they're part of a special club instead of the commercial sheeple iPhone crowd. The fact that the G1 isn't the prettiest phone in the world, is based off a Linux kernel, and has been spread largely by word of mouth, lends itself to this same model.

While commercials are starting to pop up, and more will be sure to follow, the early adopters will have a feeling of being a supporter and being part of something new and different, rather than just being a fashion follower. Those that adopt later have these early adopters, the open nature of the market, and the reputation of Linux, as a foundation.

Lastly, this phone is not without issues. When the iPhone first came out I felt insulted by the price due to it's lack of functionality. Sure the UI was nice, but at the time I had a cheaper phone (MDA) that destroyed the iPhone in terms of capabilities.

If Google/HTC/T-Mobile had a huge marketing campaign talking about how incredible the G1 was, tried to pretty it up for the fashion-centric crowd, and priced it comparable to the initial iPhone price, I would not have purchased the phone.

    just my 2 cents.
