A few pages back someone had stated the Storm will be 250 - 50 MIR =199 for 2 yr contract. But retail without the contract is ~500, is this correct? just need a little clarification. thnx

I got an invite in the mail for a VIP event at my local Verizon store from 11/17-11/21.

On the first panel of the tri-fold, there's a Strom with no price. I'm just going to go to Verizon on 11/17 and demand a Storm, saying that they'd advertised the phone for an even 11/17.

Hopefully to shut me up, they'll guarantee me a phone on 11/20 (they have to have the phones in stock 11/20 if they are opening at 8am on 11/21, right?).

    We'll see how it goes.

Yes, the 2 year price is confirmed, however the full retail price is just speculation for right now. Personally, I would think it to be a little closer to $550.

I just called the business sales number for verizon to ask about corporate discounts and this is what I learned from the call:

The CSR did not know what the price is of the phone with a corporate discount. Apparently, they use to get the information before release date but could never keep their mouths shut so now, they don't get the prices until the phone is actually released. Each phone might also get different discounts depending on its price and any current sales. In order to get the corporate discount, you have to go into a store and order in person or order over the phone. You can't do it online because with a corporate discount, you can pick between the corporate prices or consumer prices and verizon's online service can't distinguish between them. The corporate discount also depends on tier system which is based on the number of lines or something that they have with verizon. So if you work in a small company (vs a giant corporation) your discounts may be different.

Also, with family share stuff, the CSR said that I could keep my old plan (AC II) or upgrade to the new Nationwide one. She didn't say anything about being forced to change. For a blackberry line, it makes no difference as the differences are mainly for non-voice charges. When you get a BB line, it defaults to the $45/month data plan, which is for corporate e-mails and you have to ask for the $30/month data plan. The NE2 for lines under $69.99 is only $50, it's $100 for lines over that much.

All in all, she confirmed that I should be able to walk into a store next friday and be able to buy a storm with a corporate discount in person.

On a side note, anyone have experiences with ordering in person vs over the phone with complicated stuff like corporate discounts, old family lines and adding blackberries? So far, the impression I have is that they seem to be nicer over the phone and it would be easier to solve ordering problems but it could just be me

Yea but with the iPhone you can have just upgraded and they let you sign a new contract and get the iphone price, regardless of when your real upgrade is. At least thats how it was when I bought the original iPhone long time ago.

I think we should start a separate page for the "VIP Invite"....

Cbagz, no, your brother will not. The phone won't be released until the 21st. The invite is basically a way for Verizon to get you instore to purchase one of the other phones marketed in the invite.

And does anyone have a phone number for RIM regarding the trade-in program? I called Verizon today asking what possible cross-promotion they may have and both agents I spoke to never heard of the program.

One girl told me she assumed that if you couldn't buy the phone directly through RIM that the credit could be applied.

Either way, looks like I'll be getting a free Storm!

That's contrary to what was reported that beginning 11/14, you could no longer get the corporate discount in the stores and could only get it online or over the phone.

I have only done in-store, but I was told that most "MIRs" don't apply to online purchases, they are usually made as Instant Rebates. But of course you will have to wait a bit for it to ship.

    Thx for clearing that up!
It should be noted that he will be able to walk into a store and mess around with the demo version of the phone. So he can see what he'll get if he purchases it on Friday.

Is anyone's Verizon stores opening early on Friday? The store I spoke to said normal operating hours...

    Here you go.

    http://blackberry.tradeups.com//?CPI...=EMC-BBCN407-4

It isn't a credit program per se. You get a price quote on the phone you want to trade in. Then you have 30 days to buy your new BB and send your old phone in and they in turn send you a check. Some of the prices they offer isn't great (for example, they will only give you $70 for a Pearl).

    So you've tried this program?

So they send you a check to cash? They don't send you some promotional voucher to use towards a purchase? I assume that would make sense, as I wouldn't be able to trade-in my phone until I get my Storm because I obviously need some type of cellphone.

Though eBay maybe the way to go, as I can probably get another $50 for it.
