I went by BestBuy and paid my $50.00 reservation fee for the Storm at about 11:00AM this morning. The clerk didn't know about the Nov 21 release date. Anyway I told him about that and referred him to VZW's web site. The $50.00 is refundable if you don't take the phone. A friend just called 2:30PM and said BestBuy had quit taking reservations. I don't know if this applies to all Best Buy stores or just my local store in Paducah, KY.
I know this has been covered but I just wanted to reiterate... today as of 1:37pm we stopped taking pre-orders on the Blackberry Storm until further notice. The "overwhelming" support of the pre-order'ers was a little more than Best Buy bargained for and they make to make sure they can deliver on what is being promised. We were told to simply take down the pre-order sheets and not distroy them. For all we know we could be taking pre-orders again tomorrow or the day after... or at worse not again at all.

Just came back from Best Buy in San Diego...they were taking pre-orders as of 7pm here.
Best Buy called me today and wanted to set up an appointment with me to purchase my Storm that I pre-ordered on Friday. They said the store opens at 10:00 a.m. and the earliest they could fit me in was at 10:30 a.m. I set it up for after work, however I'm hoping my local VZW store opens early and I'm able to secure mine at the corporate store before work and then get the $50 refund from Best Buy.
I am no longer an employee of VZW, I left on good terms and still think VZW is the best network in the U.S. and most helpful CSR's in any industry.
Today I got to play with the storm. I Have been following this phone for months, and had huge expectations. And they were met. It was not running production software, so there was a slight lag, but nothing bad. If they production software is that much better then this software I cant wait.
quick question: Is Backup Assistant on the Storm / compatible?
I'd prefer that VZ just hand me the box, Storm inside untouched, and let me take it from there. No, I don't have OCD or anything but I feel the best way to learn something is to do it myself. And honestly, I don't want anything but my contact list transferred over from my Dare. Since its saved online by BA, my Dare and my soon to be Storm will never meet if I can help it

Pretty sure Backup Assistant doesn't work with Blackberrys, so you'll have to use other means to transfer your contacts... Pretty sure, anyway.

Backup Assistant is not available on the Storm. When you activate your Storm, they will be able to transfer your contacts to the phone.

You'll have to call. In my area all they got in today were dummies, sounds like there were alot of demo units out this afternoon around the country....I swear I've become a stalker..

no stores have "demo" units (in the wbv area )however their data reps(dsc) may have them, well should.
what software version they have will probably depend on the day....
when the store gets them is up to the higher ups ie drop ship friday morning or via the normal scheduled truck.
they want this bb to sell so I think that they would get it to the reps to get used to and not fumble when we are selling it.

Here in Chicago I was able to play with a demo unit as it seems most stores here got the demo's.. I must say I was not impressed at all with the touchscreen part of the phone.. Everytime i tried to surf the web and scroll down I kept accidentally clicking on links within the page.. So far the touchscreen part of the phone doesnt seem to be the best... just sayin..
Everything looks fine 2 me, only lag I seen was when They were trying to flick through pics, what I noticed was when their finger was over text links, above the finger the link was showed so they know what they were clicking on. Pretty nice!!
okay check it: my gramps has a family share plan w/ 2 phones and he's up for new ones, yet doesn't need them. i've basically convinced him to go buy two of these beasts, then sell them for a discount, via me, via here, and cash in. benefit to him would be easy easy money for like an hour's worth of work. benefit for you would be a new storm, shipped friday, for $50-100 less than retail. if anyone's interested, pm me.
what i'm really hoping is he's so happy i just netted him several hundred bucks that he just gives me $200 for my own storm, so all parties involved win.
