Just add a second line for 9.99 per month> then have them switch the numbers on the handsets. 9.99 per month until contract is up is cheaper than most etf fees
I asked about that for my mom's account when she wanted to add my step dad, & they said she had to UPGRADE to a family plan to add a second line
As dumb as this sounds, the geotagging is likely what has put me into the sold category. I'll take the downfall of a less then capable video recording resolution for all the rest the phone offers.
IF $599 is accurate on retail (unlikely though because the Dare started at $250 with a $50 rebate and I think it was $419 or $519 retail, someone can correct me), then its cheaper for in contract people to just add phone to a second line, swap phones for a day, terminate the line, and pay the ETF.
When I talked to a VZW rep the other day she told me to add a 2nd line to get the discount rate for the storm when it comes out and I know there is an etf to disconnect the line but my question is......If you disconnect the 2nd line too soon, will they go back and bill you for the full price of the storm?
Thanks Lynn
Here in Chicago I was able to play with a demo unit as it seems most stores here got the demo's.. I must say I was not impressed at all with the touchscreen part of the phone.. Everytime i tried to surf the web and scroll down I kept accidentally clicking on links within the page.. So far the touchscreen part of the phone doesnt seem to be the best... just sayin..
I live in Chicago too. Which store did you go to that had the demo units?
Will Best Buy have demo units? I will need to get mine on the day of release because I am leaving for a trip soon. However, I want to test before I buy in case I don't like it. I want one I can actually use not just feel a fake one. If I have to go to a VZW store that's fine too.
Im a current att customer, and I am very interested in the Blackberry Storm. I want to know what are the monthly pricing plans going too be to own a STORM. Obviously the phone is gonna be $199.00 after MIR. I need to know how much the monthly plans are gonna be???? If this has already been discussed I apologize I could not find anything.

You can't get the Storm on a new line and then cancel the new line expecting to pay just the ETF. If you do that you'll also either have to return the phone or pay full retail for the phone.

Wait a minute. Is this a joke? You can't go to a link while web-browsing unless you click the whole damn screen in. Are you saying you couldn't swipe/scroll through a page without clicking the whole screen in? Does the screen move by the touch of a feather? Or is it that you lack hand-eye-coordination?

I believe it's the latter....from all accounts we've all read it takes a bit of pressure to push the buttons.

This is a bit OT but still relevant to Storm purchase and seems in-line with current discussion about different purchase options.
With $100 NE2 (grandfathered), if we get the 2 yr contract we know it is $249-$50MIR-$100 NE2 = $99. If we assume the 1 yr price is after MIR and only $70 more (using the $100 NE2) the price would be $169.
So, my question is: if I go the 1 yr route, what happens at the end of that yr? Is there a lower NE1 for the purchase of the next phone? Or is the next phone priced at full retail? or is the next phone subject to a 1 yr price with no other discounts (in this case as an example would be $249 - $50 MIR + $70 = $269)?
In other words, I have always been a 2 yr contract holder. I am trying to look at the $$ to decide 1 or 2 yr price and contract because of the new tech that is coming out now so fast. We have been told to expect a Storm 2 during 2009 that some think will be way better than this one. Obviously there are many other new phones in the pipeline. So, I am looking to learn which numbers I have to look at to do a fair comparison. It seems that I have to consider:
- 1 yr price vs 2 yr price (now)
- what discounts will be available (NE1?) for next phone/full-retail, etc.
- anything else that I'm missing.
I know my next NE2 will drop to $50 if they keep the current policy (my current $100 is grandfathered from early 2006) but I do not know what happens if I use the $100 and then go to a 1 yr. I know I made it sound more complex than it really is but I wanted to make sure I covered all the bases. I would imagine the answer would be much shorter.

Would I be able to switch to the primary line when buying the Storm to get the NE2 credit but then after I buy it be able to switch back to a secondary line? And will the person who originally was on primary still be able to get the NE2 credit when their contract expires (obviously being back on primary)?

NOPE!!!
Primary is only line that has NE2 credit and can ONLY be used by primary account holder. Can't switch back and forth and expect each line to have an NE2.

This is my first post on the forum. What better to start with than the Storm? I received a VIP membership packet in the mail a few months ago, but thought nothing of it. I have not received the exclusive 17-21 preview flyer, so I decided to call the number on the VIP member site to see what the deal was (800-477-7752).
I was first prompted with an automated system asking if I was calling about something I received in the mail or a phone call I received. I chose yes, even though I have not received it. A rep came on, confirmed my info, thanked me for being a loyal customer for 2 yrs, etc and then asked if I was calling about something I received in the mail. I told her I had not received the preview event flyer, but wanted to know what the deal was on the storm.
She offered me the storm at $249 - $50 instant discount - $50 VIP discount = $149 shipping on Fri with $20 extra for Sat delivery. I took the offer immediately and paid the extra for Sat delivery. I am supposed to get a text message on Fri confirming the order shipment.
I am extremely happy, but shocked, because I just got the Dare when it was released earlier this year. I was not eligible for regular upgrade until Feb 2010.
It's probably worth calling 800-477-7752 even if you think you're not eligible.
