Hey just thought I would share my luck with everyone...I was feeling kinda bad that I had bought the Dare on my upgrade and sold it a couple months later. lol Anyway, I talked to Cust. Service and they told me my upgrade on my other phone line wouldnt be until January so she opted to push my upgrade forward since I was a VIP member. She put me on hold for a few minutes and came back saying that I could upgrade as early as TODAY!!! I was shocked. She also told me the FULL RETAIL price would be 369.00 and the price goes down for each additional year added to the contract. (Renewal basically) She confirmed that price and I just thought I would share that with you guys since I haven't seen anyone else give those numbers! Not sure if she was totally correct but she insured me that even if I didn't get the 2yr upgrade price I would still pay no more than that 369.00 retail!!!
You can't use NE2 if you sign a 1 year contract. Also, if you are just on a 1 year contract, you don't earn a NE2 credit (there is no NE1 program). So in your situation, if you sign a 2 year contract, with the NE2 credit you are eligible for it will cost you $99 after rebate. If you sign a 1 year contract, it will cost you $270 after rebate.
Do you have a corporate discount on your service? If you do, you may have a corporate discount on your handset as well. While they won't let you get both NE2 and corporate discount, they should offer a discount on the 1 year contract too.
So, if I understand you correctly, there is little incentive to go 1 yr. The price difference for the phone would be $170 ($99 vs $269) and an ETF is $175 with $5/mo reduction.
Is the only benefit of going 1 yr the freedom to get a new phone every year? That would be a pretty high premium to pay each yr for that flexibility.
EDIT: PS - no corporate discounts. Just a solo one-line personal account.

1yr csa's really are a last resort. a pointless argument to a from a customers perspective if you ask me.
unless you know that your are 100percent positive your cancelling on days 366 -400 then go with a 2yr and get ne2

I believe that if your monthly plan is over a certain dollar amount and you set up your account so you can access it online through the Verizon website, you are eligible for an annual upgrade anyways (using the annual upgrade does renew your NE2 clock).

I think its safe to say the retail of $369.99 for this phone is 100% incorrect. That's less than the Dare and $100 above the 1 yr price. Did she incorporate some other discount for you to get that price? I was told it is $599 which seems about right.

There seems to be some discussion about this. First, I was told by an instore rep that unless you VOICE plan was above 39.99 a month, you would not be eligible for the annual upgrade. However, I sent an email to Verizon asking why I wouldn't be eligible for the annual upgrade just because my voice plan wasn't over 39.99 when my monthly bill for a single line is about 98.00. She replied that I was eligible for the annual upgrade and would note my account as such, and would be eligible for the promotional pricing of 249.99 for the Storm when it is released.
Also, I'm not quite sure using the annual upgrade renews your NE2 clock. I used an upgrade, not the NE2, last November, and my NE2 did not reset. That could have just been an error by the CS agent, but I'm not sure.
EDIT: Just checked the email, and you are right about the NE2 reset. And, I will copy the relevant part of the email below to show what is required to get the annual upgrade.
This line is qualified to participate in this program because it meets the following requirements:
• You have been on a plan with a monthly access fee of $49.99 or above for three consecutive months prior to the upgrade request and a two-year agreement.
• You have completed 12 full months of service from the date of the last discounted equipment purchase (upgrade or new activation on a two-year service agreement) on a monthly access fee of $49.99 or above for three consecutive months prior to the upgrade request.
• Your account is current, with no past-due balance.
The following is important information regarding the Annual Upgrade Program:
• Requires a new two-year agreement that would reset the clock for New Every Two.
• The New Every Two credit cannot be used in conjunction with the Annual Upgrade Program.
• $20.00 Device Initiation Fee is required to change from the old equipment to the new equipment if the upgrade is done at a store or via Customer Service.

um yeah i would say 599ish too
the subs price has NOTHING to do with full retail
example bb curve $100 subs $420 full retail.
dare $200 subs $409 full retail
global edition 8830 150 subs 529full retail.
All Stores in the midwest have atleast one live unit for the associates to train on. It is not running current software and had a bit of a lag so customers are not to see it. The reason some stores say they don't have it is cause they are suppose to say that. Under no circumstances are the stores supposed to show any customer a demo unit. Even if you call them out on it, they should just smile and tell you its available the 21st. The demos with the production software wont be in the stores untill next week. You can ask, but if they are doing their job you wont see one until thur.
Slaved to Verizon because of INCalling & my family plan :)

Again I hope this is just speculation on their part (but I doubt it) because I open launch day and I am going to have a line of people there for their phones and our drop shipments don't usually arrive until later in the afternoon, so I will have to deal with a bunch of upset customers wanting their phones that aren't there. I am hoping they treat the shipments like the Bolds and G1s and ship them 2-4 days early. Who knows... but we shall find out shortly.
I was confused by my pre order at Best Buy myself. One of the local stores was still doing preorders. The rep told me that just because I preordered the phone doesn't mean I will get it the 21st because he doesn't know how many they will have in stock. I was confused and said "don't they order the amount that was preordered?" he seemed confused. I called another Best Buy after preordering (I figured at least if I don't get the phone on the 21st here I can try a Corp Verizon store and get my $50 back). The rep at the other Best Buy store said we stopped taking preorders, I don't think they were supposed to take anymore since today, but if you preorder the phone they get one shipped on the 21st just for you. Maybe he said you may not get one because you did a preorder today? But there should be enough.
I'm confused about the BB preorder for this phone. If I preorder the phone should I be expected to get the phone on the 21st? And are all the stores really not supposed to be taking anymore preorders? Thanks.
You can't get the Storm on a new line and then cancel the new line expecting to pay just the ETF. If you do that you'll also either have to return the phone or pay full retail for the phone.
I think I was wrong. I wasn't implying to add line, cancel storm and not pay for it and ETF. Now that I think more, I'm pretty sure that you have to wait 30 days then terminate without VZW possibly charging full retail. During 30 day 'trial', they can hit you with retail price since you can still return the phone for a 'full' refund if you cancel.
So I should correct myself in saying wait 31 days, then term
So I need to figure out how much the retail price is gonna be. I just got a xv6900 last week that I paid retail for so Im almost sure its going back on thunder storm day! I went to best buy this morning and he told me their retail price was $699.00! so as of now I have herd $519.00,$549.00,$599.00 and $699.00 . I know Best buys retail prices are about $100.00 over Verizon so I guess Im gonna have to make some calls lol.........
I just called my Best Buy in Scranton, PA and I had spoke to a girl about making an appointment for my blackberry since I have read on here that Best Buy has been calling some of their pre-order customers to set up these appointments. I won't be able to get to my Best Buy until almost 6pm on Friday so I wanted to make sure everything was good. She told me that they aren't actually doing appointments for the Blackberry Storm since they only have 3 PRE-ORDERS...and I am one of them. I pre-ordered on 11/10. That really surprised me when she said they only had THREE pre-orders. So I guess I won't have any problems getting my phone on Friday at my local best buy with my pre-order haha.
I just spoke to CS at VZW and he told me the retail price was $599. He seemed to know what he was talking about. I'm not eligilbe for any perks on the purchase so he advised me to add a line and get the phone for $249-$50 MIR. I already have a BB plan on my line and he advised I could move my number over to the new phone. I've got someone lined up to take the extra line I'll end up with. This seems like a good idea to me. Am I thinking wrong?
