I just called the Verizon store in Bucktown, Chicago (a store that one user just mentioned was carrying live demos). I spoke to a Barry King who denied that they had any live demos. And then promptly informed me that, even if they had a live unit, they are not allowed to show it until release. (From his tenor, it seemed that he was hinting that they had it, but would not be allowed to show it, or at the very least, would not be allowed to mention it over the phone).
I asked if he could report on the number of units he expected on the 21st. He said that he had no idea. I asked "20 or 2000." He said that he didn't know. But that, even if he did know, he would not be able to disclose the info. I asked if he's allowed to speculate as to the quantity, particularly based on prior handsets. And he said that he is forbidden from speculating!! hahah. "You are forbidden from speculating?? Are you sure?" -- "yes, we are not allowed to."
I'm pretty sure if I went in the store on the day the Curve came out and asked how many Curves they had left, he would have told me. What a jokester.
I just spoke to CS at VZW and he told me the retail price was $599. He seemed to know what he was talking about. I not eligilbe for any perks on the purchase so he advised me to add a line and get the phone for $249-$50 MIR. I already have a BB plan on my line and he advised I could move my number over to the new phone. I've got someone lined up to take the extra line I'll end up with. This seems like a good idea to me. Am I thinking wrong?
I was just told the same $599.00 so its gonna cost me $158.00 diff to pick up the storm

I was told at my local VZW store that demos will be available from Nov. 17-21, but will only be available to those who stop in store with the tri-fold VIP invite being sent out...
My jaw just dropped immensely with what I just got in the mail. I just used my NE2 in June (wasn't available until this month) for the Dare, and Verizon just sent this). Granted, its not using my NE2 again, but letting me upgrade because I'm not terribly happy with the useless support of the Dare by Verizon is good enough.
Sorry about the semi-poor quality. My hands aren't being stable today for some reason (probably due to med I'm taking for now) so this was the best out of a few I've tried to take. The other half to the second image had my address and last 4 of number eligible (which is mine), but didn't want to exactly share that with the world
It does say though to bring the flier to get the "deal" so I'll definitely be doing so when the day arrives. I don't recall this specific one being posted, just the VIP one. This is kind of VIP'ish, but better I would say
Everything I see in the news and on Verizon's website shows a 11/21 release and $199 with a $50 mail in rebate. But here in the threads people are talking about 11/17 release etc.
I went to Best Buy today and the woman I talked with didn't even know when the phone was coming out and they didn't even have a dummy for people to look at she didn't know when they would.
I also confirmed with my local VZW store by phone that since I am due for my new every two on my primary line I would get an additional $100 off so the first storm would be $99 but that my second line on family share will be $199 ($249-50 MIR) because only the first or primary line can get the new every two.
If I can get it before 11/21 that'd be great as I have a old chocolate flip that won't hold a charge and my spouse has an old samsung that really only works with a headset.

Reason: more info
I played with the Storm here in the Burbs of Chicago today and let me just say it was fantastic. The Rep however, told me that they won't have it in store until the 24th...this is a corporate store...so this seems extremely odd....anyone else here it?

where does it say you have to take the flyer? How will they even know whether or not you are VIP? I see alot of ppl going to VZW stores and saying they lost their flyer....
All Stores in the midwest have atleast one live unit for the associates to train on. It is not running current software and had a bit of a lag so customers are not to see it. The reason some stores say they don't have it is cause they are suppose to say that. Under no circumstances are the stores supposed to show any customer a demo unit. Even if you call them out on it, they should just smile and tell you its available the 21st. The demos with the production software wont be in the stores untill next week. You can ask, but if they are doing their job you wont see one until thur.
I was at the local VZW store today and asked. The greeter said he didn't know what I was talking about. Because I go there a ton, I am friendly with a few employees. I was talking with one of the guys I have known for years and he whipped the Storm out of his pocket. He said the OS on it is an old version so disregard the BAD LAG. I played with it for about 20 mins. My first impression is GREAT DEVICE! Can't wait to get one! Finally VZW comes out with an exclusive device first to hit the market!!!

Okay so the details are $599. This is what I've been told and others. $369 is not it, that's a joke. So lets just stick with that. But I'm 98% sure that's the final price.
For those who are interested in real useage of the storm and reviews by people who have them, crackberry's forums actually have real info, not just the pricing plan stuff we are talking about while waiting for a device. It's all vodaphone carrier people in the UK who have gotten the storm starting yesterday. Great info there!

I don't know how they decide on who is a VIP, but I don't think the have any hard rules. I got the flyer about the private sale and I have a $35/month plan with no data plan. I do own a PDA so maybe that's why they sent me the flyer, to try and sell me the Storm.
they said its $249.99 plus a $50 mail in rebate. They owe me a $100 credit on my account that they have noted to apply towards the price of the phone for me. So i will be paying $149.99 plus the $50 credit. will be nice to pay $100 for the storm. im goin into work late on fri to pick one up.
