Does anyone know if Verizon will include the BlackBerry slip case? I see that it is included in the Vodafone version but it is not listed on the Verizon box on page 1 of this thread. I sure hope it is. I consider this a must-have accessory for all the BlackBerry's I've had. It provides great protection when not in use and with the built-in magnet puts the phone in battery save mode when inside the case.
I hope it does, otherwise that's another 10~15 dollars I need to spend
Thanks for the reply. As a Mac user, what is your take on their recent ability to run Windows programs and how does this impact BB sync-ability? I am not a heavy user but do want to sync contacts and full calendar. If I do get an iMac for my home office to replace my P4 XP Media Center (also have a fairly new PC notebook w/Vista), and load Outlook - how well/not will the Storm sync w/Outlook? If iMac can run Outlook 2007, where is the sync problem?
Not sure, I don't run MS Windows on my Macs, nor do i use Outlook. To be honest *most* of the syncing i want to do is for backing up my phonebook, and to sync calendars back and forth. Obviously i want more than that, but in 2008 it seems like that is still a bear to accomplish.
There are a few sources for Mac help out there, and since this thread is for the Storm pre-release..... it's probably not the place to get into that except to speculate that the Storm will not be any better (out of the box) than previous Blackberries. When the Storm is really out in the wild, i am sure there will be a lot of genuine hands on users posting to other parts of this site, and they are generally really willing to help you. I find them to be significantly better sources of knowledge than anyone official.
I know some people do have a-ok success with PocketMac and MissingSync, but if you have a lot of vital info and little time.... don't count on it working 100% the first time. I had mixed results, and i think the issues were something i could have worked out eventually. It did sync an iTunes playlist with no problems, but it's not smart enough to sync podcasts how i would want it to (like an iPod does).
If your work contacts are vital, i do not suggest grabbing a Storm Friday morning, syncing it with your desktop Mac and expecting to have a perfect day 01 experience. That's general advice with any hardware/software upgrades though.
If the Blackberries supported Verizon's Wireless Sync, you would at least have a backup in the clouds. That has saved me with my Treo in the past.
Unfortunately that is not the case.....
so according to Blackberry.com it says the Storm is "3.5mm stereo headset capable" but does NOT include a headphone jack (like the Curve does). Huh? Does it use some crazy dongle?

It looks like the folks over there with Voda did get a slip case, but then again it also looks as if they didn't get the 8GB microsd card.

The jack is on the right side of the phone near the top portion.

your normal headphones are 3.5, for instance, the 8830 world edition uses the 2.5, i'm not sure about the other BB's.

Take a look at the pictures on the first page of this Thread, it clearly shows the headset jack

If your idea of a "pre-order" is ordering the device on the day it is released and having it shipped that day, then yes, those individuals who state they have "pre-ordered" the Storm have pre-ordered it.
Dude, what are you talking about, and why are you quoting me? I was replying to what someone else said about reps from crackberry ordering and shipping out Storms before the 21st. I said that they were going to ship them on the 21st, not before.

has anyone heard any word on the AIM on the storm? is it going to be teh game mobile IM thats on every other verizon phone? i hate that stupid application..you cant read away messages and you have to make a "mobile list" on your buddy list at home. I want an AIM like what the sidekick has. An actual AIM buddy list and no different then how ur pc aim works
What reps over at crackberry are guaranteeing delivery on the 21st? Each rep that I've seen over there have only guaranteed that they'd ship it on the 21st.

I think you misunderstood his statement. He is saying the exact opposite.
WOW ANOTHER LUCKY 369 RETAILER!!! HMM, Isnt this interesting that even after we have an official (VZW E) pricing that some of us are still receiving the 369 retail price from Verizon????? LOL Im just sayin....
I have confirmed that the 369.99 is definitely a corporate equipment discounted price not the "standard" full retail price. Different companies have different levels of equipment discounts so I'm sure there are some folks out there who can get an even better deal, I'm just sayin...

AIM for Blackberry's is not the same as the AIM from Verizon. It works just like on your PC

Thought I read that it also supports Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, and maybe some others. True? If so, does BB handle some of these better than others? Which and why?

Groves, if you want verifiable proof that the flier exists, I'll gladly take a video of it. Obviously I won't know until Friday if I can use the deal (which luck is on my side with this right now) and confirm it.
There's the saying in every pre-release thread "Don't trust what CS tells you". Even if its higher up in the chain, they still can be clueless. I have a legitimate flier from Verizon. Hell, Google almost has a street view of the address it came from (it's about a block off)
I'm not doubting at all what you received. It was not a CS that gave me the info I posted either. I was talking to someone in the mid-west regional marketing division who is responsible for sending out all fliers, promotions, etc. that company has. My concern is only why some are receiving it and others are not when the contract, price plans, etc. seem to be very similar. Hopefully I will get one in the mail before Friday.
Question: Did you sign up to receive mailings, offers, etc. from Verizon? If so, other than for the Storm info? I have not (except for the Storm) and I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
