excuse my ignorance guys, but I have been trying to find the price of the Storm and not had any lucky. But I did find a article from earlier in October and wanted to know everyones opinion. It basically says that the Storm could be marketed much cheaper than the Iphone?
Unfortunately, as an employee of VZW, many times we aren't allowed to get phones until much later than when it was released to the public. I am hopeful this won't happen for this phone however.
I have it on good authority that the Storm will launch on the employee site on the same day as consumer launch, whatever day that ends up being...

yeah we've seen that article, but despite that nothing has been stated as far as price with 2 year contract... most vzw reps/managers "believe" that it will be competitive with the iphone's pricing (ie 200-300). but otherwise it's just all speculation.. here's to finding out next week tho

thanks, I currently have the ATT 8520 and detest the phone. Looking to getting the storm and switch to Verizon, seeing how this phone wont be available with ATT.
So now we know that OS version .58 exists but demo Storms at the launch party last night were running .53. Also that Verizon reps stated that they had the demo units "for a while" (wording may have been different). The missing link here is the date that .58 first became available. If it was before the developers' conference then we can be reasonably certain that the launch party OS version was old and and many of the bugs are already fixed. Remember... Everyone at the developers' conference (including Kevin M. from Crackberry) said that the Storm's "keyboards" were easy to use.
Slaved to Verizon because of INCalling & my family plan :)

The storm for Vodaphone will cost between 109.99-49.99 euro dollars or pounds, I don't know what they use over there, depending on the plan you get, I used a conversion program and that made it $141.00 for euro or $180 if it's pounds at most in US dollars. This could be a very good hint that it will be about the same price as the iPhone and not some absurd price.
I've been around these boards for quite some time, and it seems like everytime a device gets rumored, then announced, then rumored, and then a release date confirmed, and then rumored some more, people always make this statement. I remember it happening for the Moto Q, the Pearl, the Curve, and now the Storm. Fact is, about .01% of the cell phone buying/using community are on the internet scouring for information about the phone. Most consumers/prosumers simply know what shows up in the email box and what their friends tell them, or what is in the store when they get there. All this stuff is only affecting those of us who care enough to spend a lot of time searching out the latest news. Verizon is doing absolutely no harm to their business by hyping this phone the way they are.
From what it seems like, the Storm may be delayed a little while in order to make sure the final product is ready for us to buy. Remember, there has never been an official release date, so even saying that it has been delayed is misleading. All that is being delayed is a targeted release date, not an actual release date. If Verizon came out with a press release that said it was going to be released on Nov. 4, and then had to backtrack and push the date back, that is an actual delay. Otherwise, we are just hearing rumor after rumor about when it will be released.

i suppose the first "first look, first touch" events were postponed then? omaha and minny were suppose to be the 28th and 29th but now say TBD?
I am signed up and have received a confirmation for the Detroit event next Thursday, Nov 6. On that website, it says "Waiting List" and the event date is now TBD.
I hope I hear whether it's on or not before I venture to the casino for the event. Goodness, what will I do there if there is no Storm event???
I'm not sure anyone has posted that detailed info anywhere but you could start by going to your local vzw store and playing with the media player in a Curve as Storm will basically be a more advanced version of that. It DOES let you play entire albums if you want and the play list does list the songs.
The Dare lets you play entire albums just not in it's intended order. I assume the Curve does it in order? What are the playlist limits? As in how many songs does it support in a playlist?
You might have guessed it, but the reason is Verizon! We confirmed this a little while back with one of our really top-level sources (you know who you are!) and they did, in fact, confirm our suspicions — Verizon said hell to the no, we don’t play that up in here! Now, before the flamewars start, I will publicly say that although it might not be crystal clear, I love Verizon. Personally, Verizon has the best voice and data network in the US. Did you hear that? I lovez me some VZW.
With that out of the way, it’s pretty clear Verizon’s stance with Wi-Fi, but no tri-band HSDPA? We can only assume Verizon thought that with tri-band HSDPA, people would be unlocking these things left and right to use the devices on AT&T and Rogers. That would take out a decent chunk of their data revenue, but at the end of the day, are that many people who now can’t get a 3G Storm but rather a 2G one going to port to Verizon because of it? That remains to be seen, but all Storm first-hand impressions aside, this thing not having Wi-Fi at the very minimum is a major pain in the ***. Does anyone remember the “leaked” Expansys photo that had the Wi-Fi indicator in it? Funny, right? And to the commenters who will start saying, “It’s the best data network, you don’t need Wi-Fi!” You’re dumb, ignorant, and stupid. Plain and simple.
I posted here, but made some grammatical errors, that many wanted to point out, rather than focus on the factual arguments that I had...
"I had to laugh it this article. First of, you really should stop lying, Boy Genius. You obviously love or even like Verizon Wireless. You have more negative things to say about Verizon Wireless than any other carrier. You, also have more negative things to say about them than any other blogger/website.
Now, you say that it’s “pretty clear verizon’s stance on wifi”, and you say you “confirmed this a little while back with one of our really top-level sources”, that Verizon said “hell no” to wifi. If this is true, why did you not even bother to let us know what Verizon’s reason was for not wanting wifi?
This is especially interesting, with the fact that there is NOT ONE CDMA BLACKBERRY with wifi. Not One! Did Verizon tell Sprint, Alltel, and US Cellular, that they can’t have wifi? LMAO. What about the XV6800 and XV6700 with wifi? How do you say that this is because Verizon didn’t want it, when the other CDMA carriers don’t have it either?
Next, let’s look at motive for wanting or not wanting wifi. Verizon requires the blackberry plan anyway, with any of their blackberries. So, they wouldn’t lose money, by having wifi, because you’d be paying for the data service regardless. So, what’s their motive?
All in all, job well done. You make another bold, negative claim against Verizon, don’t even bother trying to say what the reason is, and don’t even bother mentioning the fact, that, none of the other cdma carriers in the U.S offer wifi anyway. That doesn’t sound like it’s that Verizon didn’t want it. Also, you didn’t mention the fact that Verizon has other non-blackberry devices with wifi.
You “love Verizon”? LMAO, with garbage articles that you constantly spew out like this, it’s clear that there is love…you love to hate Verizon, is more accurate."
-I don't know who u are, I don't know what u want. If u are looking for a ransom, I can tell u I don't have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills that I have acquired over the course of watching Chuck Norris in Walker, Texas Ranger, skills that make me a nightmare for people like u.
