I'm in MI and they said they same thing to me. I'm just gonna go to one of the stores that opens at 10. I really doubt there are going to be long lines. I will be very surprised if people come on this forum on Friday and said they couldn't get one.
I think that depends on where you live. I called my local BB today and they're not selling any storms until Monday unless you have a pre-order. MY local Verizon store said ppl are calling in everyday about it and they have no pre-orders. First come, first serve. They're opening at 9. Take it for what its worth but I hope your right and everybody that wants one gets one. I'd love to walk in at 9 on Friday no problem and be out in 20 mins. Do I think it'll happen? Doubt it...
Everyone that goes to a Corp Store or Circuit City store (if it hasn't closed yet!), should be able to walk away with a storm.
Do the math.
According to Crackberry, 400,000 storm units will be shipped for Friday to stores. I doubt this number has anything to do with Best Buy's numbers.
Verizon has around 2,400 locations (including CC stores)
400,000 units / divide by 2,400 stores = 166 units per store
Verizon is simply trying to build a false demand, by all the silly secrecy.
I mean, how it is even possible for a company to not know what the retail price of a product is going to be? they figure these numbers out long before the product is even introduced.
For the record: I call my local Verizon store. I asked for the full retail price, the guy says, "I don't know, but I can tell you it's going to be way over $500"
and he proceeds to tell me how they are going to hand out tickets to the people that line up at the door on Friday morning, and can;t open until the extra police get there for security reasons. Whatever dude.
So, I aksed, "why would I stand in line for a product, if you can't even tell me the actual price?" Silence.........
yeah yeah, I know someone posted a $499 retail scan, but I'm sceptical to the end. I could make something like that scan in Photoshop pretty quickly.
i like silicon cases/skins but they suck if you have small pockets. i had one for my voyager and i couldnt pull the phone out without the case falling off and it really got stuck in there. either get the full body of invisible shield or a plastic case that fits the phone.
So...my company's rep for Verizon has been emailing me back and forth, and he sent me a pre-order form today to fill out. He said that if I order through him, I will be one of the first people to get the phone. He said it will be $199 w/ MIR being automatically applied, and that if and when there is corp. pricing, he will apply it. Hopefully I'll get some more info soon.
Well, it looks like the Best Buy upgrade price is actually $199.99. I don't know why the online order form had $279.99. I even called my local Best Buy and they confirmed it.

Apparently if the Verizon CSR says he didn't know the price, I would believe him since it has been confirmed already the Verizon retail price will be $499 and for him to go on and speculate that it will be way over $500 should be evidence in itself that "he don't know"..... I have already ordered and paid for the phone from BestBuy.com and my credit card has already been charged $539.98 including overnight shipping.... far from being way over $500 for full retail so when he say's " I don't know" I would take everything else he said with a grain of salt.
Why do we even have the thread's first page?
It is apparently useless, and I'm not just talking about you mbaverizon, you are just one of many.....
you must remember theres a whole lot of reading going on about the blackberry storm, so i did forget about the first page and did read it along time ago, so some people do forget
