VERIZON WIRELESS YOU FAIL!!! Show up at my local store 20 minutes after it opens. Only 10 people in line..."Sorry sir, we have run out of devices".
FAIL!!!!
Definitely gotta agree this was a boneheaded move. They hype this phone up, iPhone killing, yadda yadda, and then give a dozen or less phones to the stores.
Service books finally updated, I have a browser icon and can actually set up mail now.
Trying to setup Gmail from the Storm, and I have a problem. I want to use IMAP - and I'm aware of the trick to do so, leaving the password blank initially. But I can't click Next because it pops up with password required. Any ideas?
Leave the password blank again. It should continue once the second or maybe third? time when you leave the password blank. It will say that it cannot set up the email and will prompt you to enter the email server info.
Check again because you would be the 1st person that I know of that received a version higher than .65 in a retail store this morning. Check to see if you see .65 anywhere, if not then we know your version is different.
FWIW, I plugged my Storm into Desktop Manager to transfer all my data over from the Curve and it is now going through the process of updating software (I would think this is the OS update as they downloaded 390-something files). I'll let you know what version I am running when the transfer is complete.
any word on where the update can be found to go from .65 to .80 or what ever it is that will be the "final"? Can we do it OTA or is it on the VZW site?
My buddy who left as a rep for VWZ and went to the dark side (AT&T and is trying to get me to come over with him for an IPhone) told me that I would get there and there would not be enough.
He told me it was typical VWZ MO and they did it intentionally.
BTW, I see you are an Auburn man. You currently live in Alabama? I am in the Decatur/Huntsville area.
I had to order over the phone because the store ran out. I heard the manager say they were running low in the warehouse. So i called and got it ordered quicker then i would have in the store. but i guess even having it ordered overnight isnt going to happen which is what i was told. looking at monday or tuesday for delivery
I called the number in the VIP packet (identified by the CSR as the "Loyalty Center", if I remember correctly) at 8:30 AM CST and tried to place an order for a Storm. The CSR said he was unable to move up my wife's NE2 from 2-14-09 (she's the primary number) nor my second line from 12-25-08 for a subsidized phone (may have to give myself a Christmas present!) The CSR said the Storm was a special case, so these updates were not available -- don't know how true this is. He did give the extra $50 off for "Loyalty", which would have made the phone $149 (249 - 50 MIR - 50 Loyalty).
The show stopper, however, was that he found out the overnight option for delivery on Saturday was not available. The phone would not be shipped out until Monday. Since we're traveling next week, we had to cancel the order process.
We had talked to a different CSR yesterday, who was confident she could get the NE2 etc., but she doesn't come on until noon. We'll try her, but we may be waiting until the craze dies down.
There were still people coming into the store today at 10:30 and leaving out with phones, so I went in and asked if they still had any and he said no! I had already placed an order but it was funny that I woke up at 730 drove around to the store and there were ATLEAST 20 people in there and still at 10:30 people are getting phones! So I wonder if my location had a bunch? FYI Im in Bloomington, IN! Atleast i did get to play with it!!lol
Also I placed the order for overnight! I called and spoke with another rep after ordering and one lady said I wouldnt get it until mon or tues and I said well I did the overnight shipping, she said "OH" well you SHOULD get it tomorow then! She also said it depends on the time of day you ordered them, being I did mines at 7:30 am hopefully that put me out front.hmmm, Im kinda nervous that I wont be talking on a BB Storm until next week sometime..Lets pray lol
Here's my story. Left at 6am pacific time was number 21 at corp store. Ended up being one short and sold out. I took a trip over to circuit city and no one is there and now I'm number 1 in line and get my phone. Fyi don't listen to the reps at the verizon stores they were telling us u guys have to order through us because everyone is packed and will sell out but lucky me I didn't believe her and drove right over here
has anyone tested the GPS yet? it BB Maps able to use the GPS like we thought?
where's crucial now that the NDA is lifted?
I'm going to try Google Maps shortly, but YES, GPS is working in BB Maps. In my home office, it actually took less than 20 seconds to find where I am and it was as accurate as the Nuvi in my car.
