I noticed that it said it has vvm under vzw branded apps. Will that need a subscription like it does with the voyager?

ARV of $549 is for both the phone and the $50 VZW gift card. So the phone is $499.

VVM is subscription with every phone that uses it. $2.99 a month.

Yes, $2.99 a month or $34.99 for LIFETIME Subscription.
