I live in chicago.... where/when is this storm event and how'd you hear about it????
Someone over at Crackberry mentioned it. It is at 401 N. Michigan Ave. I know it's only for one day, but I don't know how long it will stay open. I would suspect that they'd have it running at least until 5? But it might be too dark by then. Not sure.
Since I will be a new blackberry user when the storm comes out, I figured I might want to ask about other charges such as data plans....something I was not aware of before. From the rep I spoke to, she said I would have to have a data plan regardless if I use the data or not, I believe she said...29.99...a month. Also at the end of the call I through out the obvious question, when would the storm be released.... she actually had an answer that was from the top. She said that pre-sales or pre-orders would start on the 17th and go to the 21st. So it looks like end of Month lets say 23rd I guess...
When I came into this world it was I that was crying, while everyone around me laughed......When I leave this world, it will be I that is laughing while everyone around me is crying....

Beware, you might be temporarily banned for this post. The moderators have been really tough on posts about data plans in this thread.
oh....my posts was related more towards release date.... just explained purpose of call as well.... will watch how i structure messages in future. Also thank you for saying it in a respectable fashion, not flaming...
I was able to play with the Storm for five minutes at the Chicago Storm giveaway event today (the one with the Storm chamber).
[snip]
All this said, I literally played with the thing for 4 minutes.
Wait - first you said five minute, and now it's only 4? Was this whole post a lie???
Thanks for the details comments! I've never taken the plunge for a smart phone, but if the price point is right this might convince me to make the switch!
The UI was slow and glitchy, which is obviously why the Verizon reps were VERY hesitant to let me take a look at the live unit.
Thanks for all the information.
What I don't understand is why the VZW version of the UI is having trouble, yet every video I've seen of the Vodafone version shows a smooth as silk UI?
Fcuk all the reviews. I'll get the phone. I guarantee i'll get sick of it just as quick as i got sick of any other device. This infact-- will be my first BB / Touchscreen phone.
Sweet.......so if the corporate discount is $90 (which seems reasonable as it is $110 off of the consumer price which is in line with the discount on other BB's), and then you tack on the expected $70 rebate, then the Storm should cost me $20.
Unless the prices they are quoting is the after rebate price.....which sucks...but doesn't suck too bad.
Sorry if this has been asked but I could not find it. Will Verizon force users to pay for VZ nav to use the GPS function? Or will you be able to use other apps? I am not familiar with BB Maps is that a full GPS app?

You will have to pay for Vz Nav to use the aGPS, but the GPS will be unlocked.

Verizon has locked the GPS to VZ Nav only on the Curve and Pearl, so that would be expected. However, the slides previously shown does reference that the GPS would be usable with VZ Nav AND Blackberry Maps. So maybe it is unlocked? We won't know until someone actually has one in hand.
Sort of veering towards plans here (and if we're not careful the mods will not be pleased) but one of the above posted videos (from Voda) stated they would give the phone away with a $60/mo 2 yr and include 6 mos free Nav.
How certain are we that the gizmodo post is 100% correct?
