Still no word with my contacts on a pre order. As soon as I know I'll post.
Thanks E,

The Storm will be my first Blackberry and I hope as well that this easily overlooked aspect works just the same as on my dumb phone.

Agreed.
As I posted on CB:

I don't know how many times I've posted on this topic but it seems I never get through. It does seem carrier dependent, but it isn't because the Motorola Q (smartphone) and dumbphones on Verizon DO go past 160 characters when typing a text message. And it also seems manufacturer depenpent, but it isn't because RIM GSM BB's can do it, and other Verizon phones have it.
I'm leaning more towards GSM v CDMA. Why would RIM allow GSM (att, t-mo) to do it, and not (Verizon)? And why would Verizon allow the dumbphones (lg's, etc) and other smartphones (Moto q) to have it?? The only verification I need is anyone with a sprint, telus, US cellular BB, etc to confirm the CDMA thought.
My buddy and I both got our names on the list. Too bad we won't be able to leave the office until 4:30 and we're driving up to Hollywood from the OC so I don't even know if we'll be able to make the first 800.
I am pretty sure its been said it does....but regardless it doesn't need one, w/ the dare its necessary so you don't his any buttons while on the call, but w/ the storms click to touch screen you aren't going to be selecting anything if its against your face unless you actually click in, and if that were the case you'd be quite aware that you've done something.
Ok thanks. But the Dare doesn't use heat like the chocolate, it's pressure sensitive. It also has tactile feedback like the bbs and many new touch screen phones.
BG reports that the release was pushed back to the end of November.
"The 15th will not be the release date. I can assure you it will be very, very late November. Also there will be no Storms given out here, people, so don’t worry. You’re not missing too much."
"Software isn’t ready. Vodafone has accepted the build but from what we’re told Verizon has not done so yet."
"I promise I will. I only used a pretty early unit for a brief period of time so I can’t go there yet… I will soon, though. Early reports from people that have actually used the device for more than 30 seconds (unlike pretty much every blog out there) is that this is really not a solid product. The auto-rotation thing is janky at best, and the touch screen gets in the way more than it helps. “It’s a Bold with a touch-screen, but not in a good way.”
Again, these aren’t my personal opinions, though I do think the Storm after the initial hype will slowly die down and people will forget about it."

that's what i've been hearing from store managers lately, that it can be as late as black friday... sux that BG is saying the same
That seems to be conflicting with what Kevin has been telling us about the 15th.
Also seems odd that they would have a release party and then delay the phone?
