Bearing with the BB newb for a minute...........

I take it the 500mb allows for BIS traffic? Just looking for the best e-mail & net combo, if the VP with 500 mb meets both then I think I've found my current plans replacement.....

Called Rogers and asked for the data department. Got the $30 DVP and she offered the $10 credit without me asking for it! Woohoo!

Original had the old $12 Value pack and the $15 Personal email less $5 credit for a total of $22.

Got the Blackberry Value Data pack for $30 less $10 credit for a total of $20.

Save $2 and get alot more features!!!!!!!

I honestly could say that I'm happy with what rogers is offering!

I desperately want this, but I'm slightly worried...I currently have the $15 smartphone VP with a corresponding $15 MSF credit. I have a customised $20 retention plan, with lots of other credits (but only the one MSF credit). If I somehow manage to get the rep to give me $10 off this package, I would have a $25 MSF credit on a $20/mth plan...obvs this would get my account flagged and subsequently audited. Which I don't want.

Is there any way for me to get around this??

Yup, 500MB is BIS and can be used for anything data - email, web browsing, IM (yahoo, live messenger, bb messenger), maps, flycast, etc.

i doubt it. i'm in a sort of similar boat as you. chances are, i'm gonna bite the bullet, and add it for $30/month anyway, i'll find some way to fit in another $10/mo.

and if the previous rumour is true that a 30MB version for $20 will be coming out later on, i can always downgrade to that to save some money

Ya, that's what I was thinking before the 500MB announcement (assuming a $10 credit )...sigh. I'm still tempted to try tonight (before the reps are told they shouldn't be giving $10 credits), but I don't want anything taken away!

I called in and told the rep to add the Blackberry 500MB VP and he added the WM Data Value Pack

I confirmed with two reps and they confirmed with two reps in the data department that if you get the BB Data Value Pack it can be used on smart phones but NOT vice versa.

How much data is used by the typical e-mail user? I'm trying to decide between UL e-mail and 500MB data.

You will never even get close to 500mb with emails alone.

Are you serious? That's an edge device. You're wasting a lot of money cause you may never break
100mb at all on edge device

Sigh. I just called Rogers, and the [very nice] agent put me on hold while he tried to apply the credit.

He came back and told me it was reserved for "New Activations Only" I tried to ask if there was any way around it (obvs that's just not true...), and he basically reaffirmed that he couldn't add it with a $10 credit (that it was only for ppl brand new to Rogers). At least he tried!

Now to call back in the AM, hoping a new bulletin hasn't been passed down...
