Anyone have any luck getting Nav4All to work? It keeps telling me I have no GPS source and trying to connect to my Voyager via Blue tooth to use it's GPS.
Its not Google Maps thats the problem, it is Verizon still. The current version of Google Maps works perfectly with GPS on the Curve for Sprint and ATT as stated already in this thread, probably T-Mobile too, but I dont know anyone on Tmobile to confirm.
I never thought an Indiana Jones movie with Area 51, Soviets, Red Scare, Marshall College, Motorcycle chases, jungle chases, a giant jungle cutter, car chases along cliff edges, neat locales, skulls, Cate Blanchette, John Hurt, Spielberg, and John Williams could ever be bad!

    IT WAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone have a guess on this?

If I get a message from Blackberry maps saying "Searching for satellites..." but that's all it says for 5 minutes, does that mean the GPS is working and it just can't find any satellites or does that mean the GPS still isn't enabled on mine?

A few of us were having this issue.

If you rub your tummy while patting your head and jumping up and down on one foot, it might lock in a little faster.

OK I'm joking and in a weird mood. But I did feel a bit like I had to do the same things more than once to get it working.

Assuming your settings are correct (GPS enabled correctly in GPS menu and in BB Maps), then try this:

    First, resend service books.

Then reregister with the network (Options, Advanced, Host Routing Table. From within HRT select BB menu key and select Register Now).

Wait a few minutes to ensure these things complete.

Remove battery for a minute or so.

    Replace battery.

Once device has powered up go outside with a clear view of the sky and open BB Maps again.

    Hopefully this gets yours going.

    I've found the following...

    - When I select the option to find my location, that seems to fail fairly frequently - gets stuck on "searching for satellites"

    - When I select the option to start GPS navigation, that seems to work much more reliably

Still playing around with this, but that looks like how it is behaving for me so far.

I used BB Maps to track my walk with my dog this AM, and it tracked perfectly.

Also, have to admit that when it works, the internal GPS and BB Maps appears to be slightly more accurate that my Freedom 2000 puck and WLS or Google Maps...at least for placing me in my home, puck & WLS/Google Maps would put me at the back edge of my property, which has a small private road behind it. So directions from my GPS position at home would start me out on the private drive.

Using the internal GPS and BB Maps, I get placed properly on my own street and directions from my GPS position start from there.

So have to offer some kudos to the internal GPS & BB Maps in that respect.

I do really dislike the scrolling behavior of BB Maps...things slide around badly, and the maps don't paint as smoothly as with WLS or Google Maps. I do like how the street name moves with your position on the map, and the map swivels to show the direction you are moving in (unless you tell it to lock the map with North pointing up).

    Agreed on this point.

I noticed this when I was walking my dog this morning... I went to "Find my location" twice and it just sat there on the "Searching for Sat." I thought to myself "Damn! Some tech at Verizon walked in this morning and said 'Hey, what's this GPS switch doing in the 'On' position?' "

Then I went to GPS Navigation and it linked up in about 10 seconds...

Back to "Find location" - fail...

I haven't had any of these issues with my Pearl. It seems to get a quick lock every time.

I am having some issues getting my wife's Curve to work properly, though. It's, kind of, hit or miss. At this point, she's got a pretty early version of 4.5, though. So, I'll probably upgrade her to Verizon's current release and see how it goes from there.

Nope. No update necessary, other than getting 4.5 on your device.

there is no service book for "geotagging" thats all purely software....if its not in the camera options under geotagging then it's not enabled in that software version.

this is the only thing i can come up with...maybe the GPS was only enabled for blackberry maps at this time and that other applications would be enabled later on i.e. google maps. there's really no other explination for this unless all these applications have disabled GPS prior to GPS being unlocked due the software knowing it was a verizon blackberry and was then disabled. if that's the case then i would assume software updates of the affected software will have it enabled later on.

I think you're missing the point.

The option for geotagging is in the software. You can toggle it on and off. However, the camera app cannot see the satellites.

I doubt it is in beta.
GPS works with google maps (or did untill reciently) with external (bluetooth) GPS systems.
If the current GPS setup only works with BB maps what makes you think that it will work with the BB GPS hardware when not in beta?

i just didnt know if that feature was visable in the vzw blackberries. i guess if it makes a difference geotagging is working on the storm so i would assume if its going to work on the curve and pearl its probably not far behind.
