My Sony Ericsson GC86 card failed today and I am looking for a replacement. I use my computer when traveling so I need 2G, but would like 3G for the higher speed where it is available.
I stopped at the Tmobile store and looked at the Sony Ericsson TM506. They only had phones with the newer software and won't tether.
I checked EBay for an older TM506 but no one list the software version. I really don't want to have to flash the software and run the risk of getting a brick.
I called Stelera and asked about the ST307 Option card. It seems like some speculator in NY bought all they had and they don't have any.
Are there any other options?
Regarding the GT307 - this speculator (this guy is in Brooklyn) is selling them at a pretty substantial markup from the original retail price. I actually talked to the guy - seems a little...sketchy, to say the least.
Your other option is to look at the BandRich C105, which is a one-trick pony AWS card from Stelera. $210 after shipping and handling
Option also announced the GT Express 401 back in February which is supposed to be the GT307 replacement. Their press release back at Mobile World Congress '08 mentioned a Q3 '08 volume release.
The problem? Doesn't seem to be able to find a vendor that can sell me one...and the fact that the economy tanked doesn't quite make it prudent for them to release it.
I think it's cancelledOriginally Posted by RageFury32
however, Ericsson also developed quad-3G chip (U380) as well
hopefully we'll see some unlocked 3G devices later 2009, but only manufacturers knows
How can you tell what version you have on your phone? And what program can you use to flash the phone?Originally Posted by Scottish Skyeandce
