    xv6700 woes

    new member here!!

over the past (3) months, have tried a total of 5(!) XV6700 (used) phones.

    ALL have had problems: including:

. no ring on incoming cellular calls (Verizon)
. screen out of register to pointing stick
. no power on after phone turned off 5 minutes or more (this phone was actually new!)
    .camera out of focus
    ------------------------------------

Does this phone have a reputation for problems/issues.

fortunately, was able to return all (but the non rininger to incoming cell calls).

The "non ringer" rings on the set-up screen-but-not to incoming calls..so..am i correct concluding there is a curcuitry issue/..if so--is it repairable by me (im good with soldering!)...is it a chip/semiconductor etc which is open/blown?

I have done "soft"/"hard" resets..and fiddled with every "setup" parameter/menu..all to no avail.

Like the phone-but dont know ehen an incoming call is present becasue..the phone doesnt ring!

Use Verizon sevice---they r totally unable/unwilling to help me.

If i must repalce..which phone would u folks recommend: need web browsing, touchscreen, keyboard, wi-fi, and camera capabilities..was thinking of the new Blackberry Storm (but-it lacks wi-fi).

The Veizon(Starcom) XV6800 looks good-but after my experiences with their 6700 version..can i trust it(Its also very expensive...)

    thanx.

PS--seems windows mobile is faster than Blackberry browser??

the palm 800 series looks good-but is not available thru Verizon.

I never had those issue with my 6700's. I haven't had ANY issues with my 6800. I love the GPS and all. If you can get the 6800 get it. It is a big improvement.

Most of your woes look like a custom ROM that was poorly done. I've gone through 2 6700s. The 1st one had a crappy joystick (used from ebay). Eventually the battery connector came out. 2nd one was a gem until I threw it through my winshield and busted the radio chip. It still powers on and works off the wifi. It's a tough mother.
