Upgrade a line but use the phone on a different line?

I have 3 lines on my account (mine, wife's, Dad's). I would like to upgrade to the Samsung Epix but my line isn't eligible for an upgrade for another year. My wife's and my Dad's lines both show eligible for upgrades. I bought my wife an iphone about a year ago so she doesn't plan to upgrade. My Dad is 80 years old and will probably never upgrade his phone unless forced to.

Here's the question. Can I use the upgrade eligibility on say my Dad's line to get the Epix but then use it on my line? Since my Dad's line won't have the PDA data plan but mine will, will that cause a problem?

Second question. If you have the Epix, how do you like it?

No problem with that scenario, happens all the time.
If I'm annoyed and you're annoyed, does that make us a paranoid ??

You can upgrade and just pop your sim card into the phone, won't cause an issue. Just make sure when you receive your phone you do NOT call the number to activate it, that will automatically assign the sim card of the line that upgraded to the new phone which creates an issue if you call AT&T to update your IMEI, which you will need to do because sometimes if you don't update your IMEI in AT&T's system your internet and mms may not function properly. That is not ALWAYS the case, there are cases where you can just pop your sim card into another phone and it's fine, but as your pointed out regarding the data plan you definitely want to make sure to have a data plan on the proper line to avoid ridiculous overage charges.
