Someone said they dropped a file into the root directory of the phone and it worked so i tried that as well, now i have what looks like the drive icon when i open the phone in a2 and i cannot delete those files

I tried again someone suggested i do a settings master reset after i change the files.. So I get camera in softkey right button.. HORRAY but then UP menu is once again locked :'( BOOOO Im going crazy lol. Back to square one up key is unlocked softkey is stuck >.<

I unlocked the up key to be free, but I want to follow your right soft key to camera thing also. Can I keep both? If I already did the up key mod, can I still follow the same instructions you provided here and get it to work? Thanks.

I unlocked the UP key and then applied the Camera over to the right soft key. I did NOT do a Reset and it worked for me. I did, however, have to reboot my phone twice. The first time it did not take... I don't know why that is, but I had to do this when I unlocked the Volume keys in standby too.
BTW, I decided to get a bit bold and made backup copies of the Customize.xml file from the /tpa/preset/custom folder and the Default.xml file from the /tpa/preset/default. I took these files and made copies and then appiled all the same tweaks that I made elsewhere via the Customize_upgrade.xml and Default_upgrade.xml files that I have posted in other threads. Then I uploaded the modified files into their appropriate directories on the phone... I did this in case I ever do a reset or master reset, so I don't lose all my mods...
I hope you get it to work. As with every mod listed in the forums, the writer can take no responsibility for what the readers cause to happen with their own phones... I have only written about what I have done to my phone. Please always keep this in mind. I cannot warrant any changes you make to your phone--do so at your own risk.

Another quick tip: I turn off the flight menu on my phone prior to making changes to the files on the phone itself.
I don't know if it effects the way the phone reads the new .itm file or not, but I always feared that it could mess it up, since it halts the boot up process mid-stream.

Did it and it worked! Unfortunately my phone is rebooting randomly and whatnot, so I'm reflashing the firmware right now which means I'll have to redo the up unlock and the camera key, but with your great tut it'll only take minutes. Thanks!

Interesting. I reflashed my phone, did the up button mod. Easily done.
Trying to reproduce the camera one, but it is not working at all. The right key doesn't even display camera. Weird.... I've reuploaded with A2 several times now with no can do...

That is very wierd, especially since you got it work before you flashed it to a different firmware...
Did you make sure you created the new directory in the right spot? Remember, I messed it up in the first post...
What firmware did you flash from and to?

Okay, took MANY tries but finally it worked.
What's interesting is i just flashed the same firmware onto my phone since it was rebooting a lot. the AMERICA one. Anyhow, i checked and rechecked my files and extensions over and over. Finally I just started to reboot my phone manually and on one of those random occasions, it worked. Very strange. I wonder how it all works.

What firmware are you guys using, and does it reboot itself often?
I have the AMERICA one from SE update tool, and it seems to reboot itself ALL THE TIME. Always after sending a text or during the sending of a text.

did the up mod on the nav key, all went perfectly.
did a few other mods; mostly deleting "undeletable" stock sounds and images for more space. Also added a couple of flash themes with menu changes.
FWIW, I cant recall having a reboot. i only text 2-3 times a day though. I have had a few java apps crash and close unexpectedly. seems quite random and seems like the norm for java.
from a software standpoint, i really have no complaints; seems very stable.

I used CDA 1201-0089 Generic US America with a2uploader and updated with SEUS. I have implemented the "ATT Video Streaming fix", "Volume Key in Standby" mod, "Nav-UP unlock" mod, "Right Softkey to Camera" mod, and several undeletable applications removals. I added an 8GB M2 card loaded with about 3GB of music/video files and have downloaded about 25 other apps/games/themes onto the phone(memory card).
I have not had any issues with the phone rebooting itself, but I only text about 2-3 times/day. However, I do have an ATT unlimited MEdia Net data plan, and use the RSS feeds/ticker for news and stocks updates. I also use the SE email app to read/send email via my IMAP4 service using the standard email push functions on the phone. I email all day on my phone, because I cannot access my email via my PC at work.
As for Java apps freezing, this happens, depending on the Java app—some do it all the time, some do not do it at all… This seems to be common with Java on every phone I’ve ever used and is probably caused by the way each individual app is coded, rather than a phone issue.
I have read some early reviews of the W760i that stated it was unreliable, and even recommended not buying it. But I think those reviews were all based on really old FM versions from when the phone was first introduced in the European market. I have not seen the issues that they noted on my phone. In fact, the only real issue I haven't figured out is why some of my larger video files do not have audio - but I suspect that this is due to how I converted them prior to transferring to the phone.

since this has turned into a reviews thread [Mike ] - i had a r3ba05 that rebooted like crazy (so bad it ended up dying) got a no cost replacement (760a this time), debranded and all of mbkatt's mods and it is great - love it!!!
