I got shot down! CSR in chat is saying this:

Because of the agreement setup between the Freelancers Union and T-Mobile, the discount can only be applied to the account at the time that it was initially setup.
.... so they have indeed changed their terms.

Not surprised, this was too easy for people to join who likely aren't freelancers to begin with. T-Mobile will probably do this across the board except for employee based discounts due to the potential for abuse.

Here's a question, the monthly discount appears as a credit but how does that impact your account? AFAIK the more adjustments you have, the less likely a rep is willing to issue a credit or make an exception. I read that Loyalty/Retention/Save always check adj history, so is this now just making things more negative?

i just tried also and they have changed this to apply for new activations only. the freelancers page also shows this. i was told today that it changed a few days ago. I actually had it applied, but had to remove it for the "free my faves promo" i signed up for...

(on w/ cust care as i was typing this): i was just told by customer care i still have it applied! Someone screwed up... IN MY FAVOR!!!

Anyone know if existing accounts will be able to have it on? I added mine before they stopped it and I guess we'll see here within the next week or so when my cycle ends on the 6th if they allow me to keep it. If not, Ill just sign up for the student discount for $22 a year someone else mentioned. With as much as I spend with Tmobile the first month will pay for it.

T-Mobile offers these discounts on purpose in order to increase business with affiliated partners. Why would they get rid of something which they think helps them get more subscribers?

I read on another forum where somebody added the Freelancers discount yesterday. So reports of this discount being discontinued for existing customers may be premature.

I seem to have unlimited everything right now. Old billing cycle was the 2nd of the month and now due to Freelancers it is the 6th... no texts or calls are being billed right now. Interesting.

Yes, my account appeared like that for a few days. My old cycle ended up on the 26th. There were a few days of no recorded use. But eventually it came up, so they have recorded everything used since the 26th. My cycle says it ends now on the 6th. I'm assuming I'll go to a clean slate again on that date.

    Same here

Detail billing doesn't list any message or minute but they are still deducted.

I just signed up with Tmo today. I also got freelancers discount , though the guy told me I qualified for a 15% discount. He also seen I signed up today with Tmo and credited my account $35.00 for the activation fee I was charged. My billing date changed to the 6th also. I used the online chat to do this. All I was asked for was my Member Id , though I had the code if they asked.

Patrick H: I am showing you are entitled to a 15% discount. Your monthly bill close date is currently on the 8th of each month. In order to receive the discount, it will change to the 6th of each month.

Patrick H: I see you were charged an activation fee of $35.00. According to the agreement with the Freelancers Union, you do not pay this fee. I have credit your account in the amount of $35.00.

So my first day on Tmo was a great one so far.
