Let me get this straight; RIM's top three (Bold, 8900 and Storm+wifi) and Apple's iPhone, which essentially between them have the smartphone market locked up, in both the consumer and corporate space, and they're all exclusive to Rogers? Wow, that's a blow for Bellus if I ever saw one.
Welcome to "You didn't post anything but the model number because you're too lazy, so I did the rest."
Oh, and I looked at the times from some of the other pictures, and the meeting/conference stretched for more than an hour.
The OPs pictures do not indicate timezone either.
Personally, I hope the douche is fired. As much as I disliked old Teddy while he was around, Teddy gave the goof a job and paid him to keep his mouth shut. The guy is potentially damaging Rogers' marketing plans by releasing future strategies/information.
Hope the person gets identified and fired real soon. Doesn't deserve his job.
storm is already on telus and bell, and i think it already has wifi...but wifi is basically useless when u have 6 gig lol
That's the distinction I was making; Telus and Bell's Storm does not have Wifi. You have to remember that wifi is great. It's much faster than 3G, and it's awesome to have when roaming and don't want to use data roaming.
I dont see why the OP should get fired. Yes, it may be company policy or what not. Who cares. There's nothing wrong with the consumer having a little bit of power. Might as well wait for the phone you want instead of upgrading just to find out 2 weeks later the phone u really wanted is coming out and that you'll have to wait another yr for it! Knowledge is power, y can't consumers have it?
As much as I appreciate the info in the thread, the OP is taking a HUGE risk in posting this information. Aside from getting notariety here on HoFo, this is one of those things that other have raised as possible breaches in non-disclosures clauses buried in employment contracts that can get you a pink slip.
Yes, it is a benefit to consumers. But, it's bad news for a company to have their marketing plans spilled out before they are fully geared up and try to position themselves against their competitors. If big corps like Telus or Bell saw this, they'd be probably trying to push their marketing departments to up any competitive products out the door asap. That forces Rogers' hand. We get the handsets in a shorter frame of time, but then we get may get more bugs in things like the OS and how the device behaves on the networks because it wasn't adequately tested. Did Rogers (or whoever gave the presentation) mess up in letting someone with a device take the pics? Maybe. But any good business person (from manufacturer to a retailer/dealer) knows to keeps their mouths shut until a time they know they can pounce and leave their competitors in the dust.
As much as I'm turning into a fanboy for BlackBerry, I'm not 100% sure I'll ditch my Bold yet for a Storm.
this looks promising. And I really don't think it's fake. Phones look nice, pricing could be adjusted slightly. People complaining that rogers is bringing these phones so late after release, thats how it always happens! get used to it!...sometimes we get exclusives like the bold, other times we wait. Deal with it.

Take this out of a cell phone context.
What if this was something you're trying to sell and one of your employees or dealers spills your beans online before you're ready to spill the beans? Do you say to your employee that it's okay because s/he spilled the beans because people will buy your product anyways, or do you say "you're fired" because s/he just blew your chance on becoming #1 in the marketplace and allowed your competitors to see what you're up to and now have a chance to up-1 you?
I really hope lots of people were at this presentation, so you don't get caught. Thanks for the release though OP, I just feel as though it was a bit risky.
who really cares all these phones are already out in the marketplace, you can buy them if you pony up a few hundred bucks, whats wrong with us knowing what Q they come out, so we don't go upgrade to something else before, and mess ourselves up, rogers should be releasing this info to its customers. I am sick of Rogers knowing less than howard forum posters, its almost patheic, I learn more here, than by calling rogers.
I hope security gets involved and has a list of who was there.
They can start with a valid IMEI range for E71s and search out each employee's (in attendance) account one-by-one, until they get a list of who has E71s.
Then they narrow the list down to males, in the 20-30y/old range, who haven't been with the company for that long.
Or even better, maybe people remember who was sitting where, and they can figure out from the angle some of the pictures were taken, who the likely suspect would be.
