Did anyone figure out how to hack the menu to add other folders/links to My Files or any of the other menu entries?

    Cool

Maybe a lil helpful and easy to access phone, (phones)

all i used to access phone, most phones i mod is
    1 ) Datapilot 5.2
    2 ) Bitpim

    Never need unicdma or whatever

    Data pilot will auto detect phone when connected and install the right drivers for you. worked on all phones i everconnected. this is the one i used;

    DataPilot 5.2

dont bother trying to update it, it wont let you, i already used the max amount of activations. put the code in text on txt file for installation.

just install that, connect phone to install drivers for it, than Bitbim will read phone fine.

setting i find work best with bitpim is > Other CDMA Phone. just put in your COM port and it will read phone fine.

to get programming code for phone, you will find it in the NVM folder on a file named Security. open that file with Text or word and you will see 2 6Digit codes, one of those will be the right one.

Hi all, many thanks to those who have expressed their gratitude for the effort I put into hacking the phone.

To be honest I have no real intention of hacking the phone further as I have what I need more or less now, and I was kind of hoping others would take up the reigns I left behind and bring in new innovation into cracking it further.

Java Aps are pretty straight forward if you got the ringtones going. Be extra careful when typing out the various files. The reason why most of you are having problems is that you are being lazy and pasting text from the post. In helping someone through PM a few months ago I discovered that some of the characters pasted from html do not translate properly and will result in the file being seen as 'corrupt' by the phone (I think it was line breaks, don't remember off hand.)

To be honest this phone isn't all that, but given the price, it is a wise choice for a full qwerty phone. I'm personally planning to get a Xperia X1, which has all this phone does and a lot more from the looks of things. Telus branded too much **** on this phone, and Java is a pretty restrictive platform at best.

Downloaded the app, love the idea, except I tried it with a .jar file and had some issues. The .jad file it created was empty, it did come with one so I used that one (named it 1.jad) put both 1.jar and 1.jad in the jas folder and the 1.txt in the other jas folder that you referenced, and no luck on seeing anything appearing to be installed when rebooting (assuming it should ask if wants to install on startup, not sure) also here is the .txt file it generated, seems like some strange characters in the middle there...

Dont think its really fair to compare this phone to an xperia x1. Obviously the xperia will do a whole lot more since its a smart phone.

Just got this phone about a week ago, cracked the screen on my dare. :/
Still have to go through this thread and see what I can do. Thanks for going out and figuring this stuff out for us.

As for this phone, picked it up at FS for $99. Im pretty impressed. Call quality is very good. Signal strength is very good. The phone feels very solid, a bit heavy though. Camera is ok. Keypads both feel pretty decent. Speakerphone is pretty good. Overall its a very good phone for the price.

I'm sorry guy, there a bug into my converter, I will upload a fixed version.

By the way, most of the time, you don't need to have ANYTHING AT ALL in the .jad file, even though it's empty, most of the apps will work, but if you remove it, it's gonna break. Leaving an ampty .jad file was a 'quick fix' on my side.

I'm still working on that converter, and hopefully will be able to make documentation about it someday

    Code:
    agashka. 110mb .com/m540_b02.zip
->Remove the spaces, this website is not playing nice with URL's

here is the link to the newest beta. The java converter should be working now; for 'safe mode' pick Games as the destination folder. I was able to use the "Batch Converter" to convert 11 apps in a row and add them to my cellphone without any issue (cellphone reboot is mandatory after that)

    enjoy

Hmmm, didn't seem to work. I did have to create those folders (they weren't there on my phone, I'm on sprint, do you think that could be an issue?) This what is created as #.txt file - left #.jad empty as you said it was ok...

    text file created:

folders I had to create as they weren't there:
    mmc1/jas/content
    /brew/mod/obione/jas/index/

also don't have a im folder for the icons, don't know if that matters...

    here are files (remove spaces)

Hmm, sprint could be a problem, yes, since some lines does mention Telus. If you could get me a sample of your .txt maybe we could work on that issue and I could update my program to support Telus and Sprint networks.

    Edit:
Anyone who would like to help; here is how:
send me a copy of your .txt file for any apps that you bough from your cellphone, that way, I can compare them and learn new stuff, and make support for more apps, add more functionality to the converter.

I am extremely new to all of this and as such I am having much difficulty. Can you write a quick step by step on how to use your converter? I am trying to get opera mini on it. Thanks!

Allright, I just made a tutorial, I keep getting asked for, so here it is:
    Code:
    http://agashka. 110mb .com/tutorial.htm
    (remove spaces)
Hope it is all clear , let me know if there something that could be clearer (english is not my primary language)

Also, I've began working on the 3rd beta of the application. I also need some .txt's from bough app! anyone! send me some txt's from apps you've bough on the Telus website! (Agashka2@gmail.com)

Also: I'm currently looking for a Messenger app (like Meebo or something) All the ones I've found didn't work correctly on the cellphone. Also looking for a email app (gmail ain't working so far) and working on getting the internal GPS to work... Damn it's hard!

Anyone who's getting apps to work should post it up here.

Thank you for the guide how ever I still need help. I downloaded the Operamini file. went to your program converted it. I saw that in my index the highest was 3. I used OperaMini for application name and OM for vender name. The application ID used was 4 since the highest number in the index was 3. I also selected Games (recommened) as the installation folder. I hit convert. I than dragged and dropped the txt file from the folder i converted it to /brew/mod/obione/jas/index folder and the other two files created to /mmc1/jas/content/ folder. I closed bitpim unplugged my phone, turned it off, removed battery put battery back in and turned it on. Nothing was in the games location.

I replugged my phone into bitpim and the files are not there. Once again the index goes up to 3.

    What am I doing wrong?

EDIT: I have now tried a second time and the same thing occured. However this time I unplugged the phone from bitpim and replugged it in and the index 4 was still there. So I unplugged it again and rebooted it. Nothing was in the games area. I replugged it into bitpim and the index 4 was gone. It seems when I reboot phone its deleting the info?

Edit 2: I tried to do the ringtone now and the same thing happened. It just deletes it upon reboot of the phone.

That is really odd. If the cellphone deletes them (they only do at startup from that I can see) it means the .txt is corrupt. Could you send me the txt's that you got on your cellphone(0, 1, 2 and 3 if possible), so I could compare them to those I have? (attach them as a file(no copy paste), and send to Agashka2@gmail.com)

    thank you
