SliceOfVice, I've looked through this whole thread, and didn't find what I was looking for.
I recently found a website that allows you to download games (in jad and jar) for your cell phone. My question is: How can I put them on my phone? I've got the Micro SD and all.
Everybody who hasn't managed to work this ringtone situation, just take a look at the posts made by SliceofVice following my questions. It should help because it helped me in the end and now i LOVE sliceofvic (no homo)
See my last reply, that should get you up and going.
@kennie65
Not that I know of. I find I am constantly trying to boost the volume myself as well. You can adjust the default audio volumes in the settings menu (Settings -> Sounds -> Volume)

Nothing in Bitpim works with this phone aside from file system access. If you want to manually backup your contacts using the file system, that's always an option. Not sure where they are located atm, but it should be possible.
@Ryan_vandal
Try unplugging all of your usb devices aside from your phone, reboot your computer and try. Once bitpim finds the phone you shouldn't need to search for it again. Go straight to file folders and see if you can access them.

I will be writing a step by step guide for Java aps, but they are causing me a few problems. I think it's better if I play around with them a bit more before I pass out instructions as it is a lot easier to screw up your phone with the Java aps if you don't know what you are doing. If you think you know what you are doing then adapt my ringtone guide and proove it .
@zack2491
That sounds a bit different from what I was expecting. What carrier is your Slyde with? Telus? (I heard a rumour a while ago that it might be going to Koodo as well.)
@cshd
You are on the Rant for Sprint, correct? Check the rant thread on the sprint users forum in my origional post, as that is the best place for you to find this information. You are welcome here, but Telus has changed a lot of things with our version of the phone and what I say, may not be the same for you.
@chomps268
You will have to wait for my guide or try to adapt my ringtone tutorial and figure it out for yourself. I will say that you won't be able to download applications straight to your phone and get them going that way....WELL technically you might be able to if you were running Opera...since you can download to the filesystem..
------------------
KD Player didn't end up working out so well after all. Even with Java permissions it would seem some aps still have troubles connecting to the fileio APIs on this phone. I had to use the signed version of the application which finally gave me access to the filesystem, however some features of the program don't work (such as actually playing the music files :/)
A lot of aps also need to be hacked because they don't recognize the keys on the Slyde. I am having mixed successes and hopefully will make some headway soon.
@Phonesnthings
Lol, glad you are happy. and yes, the ringtone tutorial will undergo a few changes in the next version which will hopefully clarify a few problems I didn't forsee when writing it myself.

Well, I really would love to do that, but my only setback is that if I screw this phone up doing that, my parents would be really disappointed in me. They'd probably never let me live it down. I love doing stuff like that, but only to a certain point. If I have to, I might do it anyways, but I'll try and wait until you write your tut, just for that extra bit of security xD
But yea dude, www.myxer.com won't work with the Slyde? I get all my ringtones on my Rant from there. It's so much extra work to go into the filesystem, etc. just to get ringtones.
...Actually, if I get bored, I might mess around with that tut xD I'm just not too fond with having to download those other programs. I'll probably end up screwing with it tonight. I just hope I don't screw something up o.o;
Has anybody got custom ring tones to work for the Samsung Rant on sprint? i tried it and haven't got it to work. The only way i can get custom ring tones was to cut the mp3 to 30 seconds using Auducity then renaming the extension to .avi then converting into 3g2 video file. I place the 3g2 video file into DCIM\100SSMED and rename the .3g2 to SSPX0003.3g2 if it doesn't work with another name. I would like it to work like this guide says though so i can use the ring tones as an alarm for my alarm clock. Thanks.
Dude, use Myxer. I have the same phone as you, and it works like a charm. Just search for the ringtone you want, cut out the part that you want (up to one minute long), and it'll send the ringtone to your phone in a text message.

How many usb ports do you have?
With your phone plugged in, uninstall the samsung usb drivers. Then plug it into another port and install them on that one. Also which version of the USB drivers are you using?
Slice, Awesome job on the tutorial. I've used it to get a look into my phone.
I recently got the Samsung Rant SPH-M540 and it appears that your method is not up to date for it. It appears as if Samsung is using AceDB in its phones now. The index for the file system is stored in a dat file. I have been unsuccessful so far in decoding it in any application.
Soon I hope to find out about my newer phone
Thanks for the info, at least I can poke around with BitPim now.

i will try to unplug everything and uninstalling it while plugged in

I ran into another problem.
While everything is fine and dandy when I upload ONE ringtone. Whenever I try to upload two or more ringtones, they all disappear..
