    Wow, impressive!

    @SliceofVice:

    I was amazed at all of your work and time devoted to this thread (and everyone else for that matter). I just got a Samsung Rant and was looking for exactly this. Can't express my appreciation for it all. I look forward to starting to hack this thing.

    do i not need 3 files?
    your .zip only gave me the .dd and.gc
    putting in just those 2 files alone isnt going to solve the problem

    Make sure u have spaces after the blank stuff in the text file so there should be space beside the ICON:

    I had the same thing happen to me the day I got my phone, from Walmart, and I brought it back (with their 30 day return/exchange policy) and the rep said she'd seen that before and just gave me a brand new unit.

    SliceofVice...thank you so much for the tutorial. I'm the happiest camper, now that I'm able to put in my customized and other ringtones onto the Slyde. When I first got the unit, I was really disappointed I couldn't add any of my own ringtones.
    Your tutorial was well written and easy to follow. I managed to get MY ringtones onto my phone on my VERY FIRST ATTEMPT and without bricking the phone...knock on wood. Thanks again.

    I actually had the same thing happen to me when I got the one, after I tried to do a software update manually. However, it went away within next 15 minutes. I think calling the phone from a landline or making a call from it cleared up this issue. Either that, or opening a web browser and going to a few websites. Seems like a small software glitch in the current firmware. Other than that, the phone is absolutely fantastic. The build quality is really, really impressive. I had to return a couple of LG Dare phones prior to getting the Samsung because of various issues (faulty LCD screen backlighting, corrupting JPG's).

    The MP3 sound quality is very impressive. Honestly, it is just as good as any of the dedicated high end music players. Shame we can't put the music app in the background like Sprint users can on their Rant. Perhaps a future firmware update?

    Ringtone Ground Up Build

    Hey Slice, new to this phone hacking stuff. Thx u for all your help and your guides.

    However, I really started building from the ground up here and follow the steps but wasnt able to get my ringtone on my phone. So alittle help might help you help me:
    Here we go: Useing a Win32 sp3 box/ & all the tools u suggested. I stared at building the sub dir's for OBIONE (jas) and (index).
    I then skip down to MMC1 and built (jas) and (content). I used your file and build a 1.txt imported into /index and then i skipped down and imported 1.dd and renamed my mp3 to 1.gc and put both on these files inside /content folder. I of course changed the YOURVEN & YOURRING to the same as 1.txt rebooted and i didnt have anything listed unders "ringers" under MY Stuff. I went back and double checked everything and found that inside bitpim under mod\obione\jas\index the files show as 1.gc.mp3 and 1.dd.txt did i do something wrong here? Also i attached my files so that u my have a look at them if u wish

    Thx for all your help

    first of all your .dd.txt file should be a .dd only file
