Time for a little education on computer files.
Files are composed of 2 things: a filename, and an extension. like: music.mp3
the filename is music, and extension is mp3, pretty straighfoward huh? MS Windows use those extensions to know witch file should be open with witch program. By default, when you rename a file with windows, it only rename the filename. Thus, that's how you ended up with a 1.dd.txt
To fix that issue, in a window explorer window, click on Tools then Folder Options.

Go to the View tab, then un-check "Hide extensions for known type"
doing so, will enable you to modify the enxtension of a file name AND the filename itself when you rename it. Be careful, you might want to check that box again once the work is done. (In case you would rename some of your work and remove the extension by mistake)

I got my slyde one week ago, it's my first cellphone ever, so I'm a bit new to this.

Honestly, there just something your doing wrong... I can't help you much on this one...

Also, I got a nice announcement I just figured out how to make Java apps works. It's still fresh, so I need to experiment some more to get it work better.
Hopefully I can get in touch with Sliceofvice so he can update his guide.
And by the way "-Find out pay as you go eligibility (sorry I wasen't able to get around to this one, very busy last week.)"

YES, it DOES with with "Pay as you go". I bought the cellphone for $100 at Staples, and I use $10 monthly cards

EDIT: I'm looking for some people to help me on this one:
-Someone who did purchase a game, and has filesystem access to his cellphone. PM me up or email me.
-Someone who did purchase a software, anything else then MSN and email client.

this is my 6th? phone that iv used bitpim on and this is the only phone iv had problems with :@
and when 2 people send me their files and it still doenst work?
can you check your firmware and let me know what versions you are running

as for pay as you go, all telus phones can be set up for pay as you go even if they were original contract phones, and vice versa
just go to your account online and put in the new esn number, cost 10$ though, 25$ in store

So I'm not a Telus owner, and I'm new to forums. Basically I need help, because I've tried the tutorial on making ring tones, but some of the files on my Rant are different so I'm getting frustrated. Also I'm pretty sure Sprint has tried to stop people from hacking it to the ultimate power, because even unlocking it w/ the code on QPST still keeps some folders locked (It's probably hiding some too), but I'm not going to quit because this is my first phone in like a year since my last one and I have no issues with it.(Even though everyone and there grandmother has been dissing it on reviews in other websites) So please help me, I'm at your mercy, If anyone can help please do.

    Bitbim or sync for google

Hi, I just got the phone last night and overall is good for the price (imho) and best of all simple yim/live access and music... but the biggest thing I want is to syncronize contacts/calendar/tasks with my pc or even better google (since my info is always there). Are ALL the steps discussed her needed for bitpim support and sync, or is there a driver download or specialized cable needed?

    I'd appreciate any help,
    Thank you in adv
    Geo

@missilX: well, In case you haven't been reading up lately, I figured the java stuff up. I'm working on a program to make it easy to put on the phone. Expect a release in the next 3-4 days
