Yes, first off, it's safe to update to the latest firmware iOS 4.2.1 (it brings with it, improvements in speed and functionality of the phone itself actually)
If you're on T-Mobile or another unsupported carrier and don't see yourself switching back to AT&T (or that iPhone's official carrier) anytime, use redsn0w to flash the 06.15.00 iPad baseband, it's baseband is exploitable by ultrasn0w and can provide the unlock for you albeit it does have it's issues for some though (like GPS quirks) but its worth it if you really need that unlock
Otherwise, if you're just on T-Mobile through a prepaid plan or something (or Simple Mobile), I highly recommend getting on Straight Talk, an AT&T MVNO who at $45 a month there plan is unbeatable and you won't have to deal with annoying GPS quirks not to mention you cannot downgrade from 06.15.00 once you upgrade (no solution is released yet at least). Not to mention you will get faster 3G speeds.
Verizon iPhone 5 32GB black unlocked
PagePlus iPhone 5 16GB black unlocked
T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 2 16GB Titanium
T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 2 16GB Titanium (2nd)
T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 white (cracked)
AT&T iPhone 4S 16GB white (cracked)
PagePlus iPhone 4 16GB
MetroPCS iPhone 4 16GB (cracked, non-usable)
AT&T iPad 3 16GB LTE (somewhere in the house)
iPad mini 32GB white
iPod touch 5 32GB blue
iPod touch 4 8GB white (missing display, non-usable)
Blackberry Bold 9700 AT&T
please try to do this steps :
Restore your iPhone to version 2.2 (Not needed if you are already at 2.2)
Use Quickpwn to jailbreak your iPhone
Load up Cydia and add the yellowsn0w repo: Cydia source
Install yellowsn0w
Disable 3G and Data Roaming in Settings -> General -> Network (Step is mainly for T-Mobile USA whose 3G bands are not compatible with the iPhone 3G’s)
Reboot the phone and you should have signal. I have tested yellowsn0w on my 4 year old T-Mobile Sim and a half year old sim, both work perfectly.
If you have T-zones, you can get unlimited data by entering the APN: epc.tmobile.com in Settings -> General -> Networking -> APN
then probably you will find Cydia
Ok, so Im new here. Forgive me if this information is posted somewhere already, but I need some assistance unlocking an iphone 3gs. I am going from att to straight talk. I saw previously where links to the unlocking/jail brake software had been posted. I need to know if jail braking is still a requirement for unlocking and if there is a combined tool that will do both? I have seen posted on the internet fees of up to 45.00 for unlocking- is this customary or can someone provide me with a free unlocking software?
Thanks
I recommend you to visit www.attiphoneunlock.net Official Factory Unlocking, by IMEI, they can unlock your At&t Iphone in 1-48hrs, you will be able to update and use with any carrier around the world they also do many other carriers.
I used Unlock_Fusion, an E-bay seller, $5 and I got notification in 1 hours and it worked perfectly
It was my 4S that I bought used, ATT refused to put through unlock.
My 3G was also second hand and ATT was happy to put it on unlock status.
If you have the patience for ATT , customer service idiots, call them for free unlock (If that is where your 3G came from)
But for me, $5 bucks is worth not talking to any customer service people.
I used unlockshopboston and paid $3.90something cents and got it unlocked. Because I got it before Thanksgiving, so it took a bit longer. Like 4 days, after restored my iPhone on iTune, at the end, I got a message from iTune that my phone is unlocked.
Wow that's pretty cheap to unlock the iPhone. i almost paid $80.
Narenz.
good stuff thanks
i paid 19.99 from myunlockiphonecode i was pretty quick
I have an old iphone 3g running 4.2.1 that I am selling. The phone has been jailbroken with redsnow and I have now received confirmation from AT&T that it will be unlocked. My question is will the fact that it's already jailbroken somehow cause an issue when I perform the unlock procedures via itunes? thanks in advance for your help.
