Heya
i just got my frosty white P-01A the other day
just wondering how many people have started using one of these now??
was waiting for KURO on hardwarezone to do a review .. but i can't post on that website for some reasons LOL
..
thoughts so far - not much different to the former models to be honest
but the keypad change when you open it the other way is so cool!
..
as for the signal .. i'm not sure if this is the case but my signal seems to die if it has low battery level .. ??
only have it for two days so don't know yet .. will speculate it later
P-01A is an upgrade from P906i. It's actually really easy to use when you're writing mail for people since the keys change and with a wide screen, you can see more while you're typing and enjoy 1 Seg while ur writing something
I wonder why they didn't think of this during P906i but it took them like one more revision to come up with it. At least they came up with it rather than never.
That is the most impressive innovation in the whole prime series. It is fairly conservative, but when you think about it the P-01a is one of the most pratical and has non-offensive styling

Does the rolling keypad feel cheap? I was looking at pictures of the keypad on this thing and compared to that of the SH-01A, it looked fairly cheap, but that was only my observation from pictures. Has anybody here actually felt the phone?
I've felt a mock phone of it. It feels smoother than P906i Mock phones of Japanese mobiles feel exactly like the real thing. You can even hit the buttons too.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry about all my questions all over the place, I haven't been this excited over electronics in a long time.
Kind of off topic, but other than a new phone, anything else I should be picking up while I'm in Japan? MP3 player tech is pretty much caught up in the Americas, and I'm picking up a camera, but other than that, I'm not sure what else I should get. Seems like we're pretty much caught up everywhere else.

Go clothes shopping, get your hair done. And enjoy the local food o.o
lol I don't know >_<
Contrary to popular belief I'm not really obsessed or in love with tofu as a food, sure its good and all but I'm not in love with it. Someone else typed this name for me when I was registering >_>
ps. For future reference just qoute me as Tofu instead of the whole name....sounds too cheesy LOL

Copied from a PM I sent to steve for his bro who's going to Japan:
Tokyu Hands (lotza DIY stuff and jp gimmicks) in Shinjuku or Ikebukuro,
Amlux (car showroom- in Ikebukuro),
Takashimaya in Shinjuku (big dept store),
Definitely Yodobashi in Akiba/Ike/Shinjuku (huge electronics store),
Bic Camera if you liked ^^, (branches in Aki/Ike/Shin and a few others),
Keio Mall in Shinjuku (dept store again),
if he has some time Hon-Kawagoe (1 hour by train from Shinjuku on the Seibu-Shinjuku line for 1500 yen- limited express). Hon-Kawagoe is an old historic town,
and of coz Akihabara- just shop around
Just shop around in those places. You'll probably find stuff you want, but Hon Kawagoe is mostly curios and old japanese dolls and stuff like that.
Thanks, I've been to Japan a few times but there's a few places on that list I haven't been and will have to check out.
I've narrowed my choices down to the SH-01A or the P-01A. I love the external design on the Panasonic, but the 8mp ccd is hard to pass up on. Both are pretty much on the same price range too, within 2000 yen of each other.

You forgot to say "go to MOS BURGER!!!!"
And if you feel like wasting money go to Sega's Joypolis Arcade.... Although I'm not sure if it's still in the Decks mall in Odaiba.
