I'm looking to buy a Blackberry Bold too, but how does the data plan work when you're using both an iphone and a blackberry with the same SIM? I was told that I'd have to switch my data plan everytime I switch SIMs, which seems kind of ridiculous?

when i had the 8110 pearl and the iphone i could switch but i did not have data since those data plans are completely different. This was back in july of 08 but i don't think anything has changed...still no data on the bb with an iphone plan.

I've had both the BlackBerry Bold and the 3G iPhone at the same time. The deal is this...
You can use the SIM out of your BlackBerry to use in the iPhone, and it will work fine if you are using the BlackBerry Data Plan. All of the iPhone functions will work perfectly...except for Visual Voicemail which is an Apple data plan-specific feature. Using your BlackBerry data plan and SIM, you would have to access voicemail the "old fashioned" way by holding down the "1" key.
You cannot, however put your iPhone SIM into the BlackBerry Bold and expect the same functionality. It will only function as a mobile phone...but with none of the data-powered features that make a BlackBerry a BlackBerry.
So, in a nutshell...you can use an iPhone on the BlackBerry Data Plan. You cannot use a BlackBerry on the Apple data plan.
Hope this helps...![]()
If you have an iphone & iphone data you will only get voice & text to work on the bold. if you have a BB data plan data will work on the iphone, although you run the risk of at&t switching you to the iphone plan everytime you swap sims.
There's a different SIM card for blackberrys and iphones? I thought all the SIM were the same?
all sims are the same, but the data plans that are put on them are different.

Blackberry doesn't do MMS?Originally Posted by ipodlover77
Just sign up for the $30 blackberry personal plan. This will solve your problems if you want to use both blackberry and iphone. You lose visual voicemail on the iphone but that's not a big deal.Originally Posted by gbadude
You will get a text message and email from ATT from time to time (when using your SIM in the iphone 3g) that you are using an illegal data plan but just ignore these warnings. ATT will not do anything to you. Especially since you are paying $30 for data anyways.
Do not sign up for the iphone $30 data plan if you plan on using the Blackberry. You lose the blackberry push function and also MMS (because ATT takes away MMS if you have an iphone data plan).
My MMS works with an iphone data planOriginally Posted by aneftp

I think my new ATT BB Bold is all messed up. I'm using Tmobile BB data plan on my unlocked ATT branded BB Bold. I currently have a $15 unlimited medianet data plan on my ATT account and a 19.99 Tmobile BB data plan.Originally Posted by gbadude
I can send MMS while using my Tmobile SIM on the Bold. But I cannot send MMS with my ATT SIM. I can receive MMS fine on with my ATT SIM in the Bold.
Probably a service book problem. Tmobile's BB Service books are probably causing my MMS problems. I need to re-add ATT BB data plan and resend service books.
I'm not big on MMS anyways so I can live with this problem since I'm switching phones all the time between Tmobile and ATT.
I still have an iPhone plan (original 2G) and I'm currently using a Blackberry Pearl till I buy a 3G this weekend and I can still use the stock browser.
No they do, but the thing is when you put your sim into your iphone and your account get updated to the phone your using, MMS gets cut off again. All you have to do is tell CS to re enable MMS when you switch back to your blackberry.Originally Posted by gbadude
I cant lie tho, it was a hassle for me. Had the iphone data package for 3 months, switched to BIS, MMS didnt work, so had to talk to three different customer service reps who didnt know what to do.
Do Windows Mobile devices behave the same? Will I have data if I put my iPhone SIM in a WinMo device? Does it matter if I am roaming in Europe? Will the iPhone SIM work in Japan for voice with a WCDMA capable WinMo device? Thanks.
