How can I tell if I have a clean ESN?

    Hi guys,

I just bought a sprint phone from ebay. How can I tell if it's a clean ESN without trying to add it to the network?

    thanks..

Take it to a Sprint store and have them check it. You may also be able to do it via a call to Sprint.

You can definitely call Sprint CS to check the ESN. I've done it a few times over the years.

sorry to rehash an old thread, but i've called sprint a few times and they said in order to check if a esn is cleared i have to have an account with them.... does anyone know how to check if you don't have an account with sprint? i'm trying to purchase used phones, refurbish them and then re-sell them. But its difficult to do so without knowing if an esn is cleared for re-use.

Are most sellers willing to release their ESN and make it public when selling a phone? Could this cause problems?

There should be no concern as long as the ESN is clear. If it is stolen, etc then I am sure the seller would have a problem with it

I called to see if an ESN was clean, and they told me a number was still attached to it, its the HTC 6900, but the number is active on another phone....how is the same number attached to 2 phones??
