Based on the info we currently have, it looks like anywhere from 6 to 9 months. Things are supposed to start rolling in the 2nd qtr. and be finished at the end of the 3rd qtr.

I believe she would be responsible for the ETF until her contract is up, no matter when the transition ends.Originally Posted by kaiz9800
That's correct. As long as the contract is being honored by VZW, then whether it's during the transition period, or when VZW completes the transition, an ETF applies if service is terminated before the contract is up.Originally Posted by budone
The exception to that rule is in overlap markets that VZW is keeping, that if a customer wants to switch to a VZW plan from an Alltel plan, then no ETF will apply (or at least shouldn't). Markets w/o VZW now will have to wait until VZW integrates their market.
what markets would be overlapping?
Hopefully we will hear in the coming weeks, which market is going to be the first to be converted.Originally Posted by winter_war

What is Alltel's "Northeast Market", and do you know if the conversion will take as long as Unicel has? (remember, VZW closed on Unicel in August 2008 and according to the Unicel conversion thread, http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1479133 , it seems that all markets will finish converting by late Spring 2009).Originally Posted by broncomx1984

There is no North East market for AlltelOriginally Posted by cb1999
But some Alltel territory does fall within Verizon Wireless's NE Area. Specifically, anything in VA except out west near Wise and Bristol.Originally Posted by tim33

But I will give you this much. Starting on Friday Alltel to Verizon will be m2m. Don't trust me? Just wait and watch
What about Verizon to Alltel?Originally Posted by broncomx1984

Remember that the ETF is not "punishment", it is to recover the cost of the equipment (phone). If your Alltel phone is supported by Alltel, I agree with the "should" part. If you've had an Alltel subsidized phone for a short time and must or want a new phone with Verizon, it seems reasonable that they would levy the ETF.Originally Posted by dave73
