the SH6018 is making the SH9020C drop? how does that work. the 923SH is supposed to be high end. The MTK thing is middle end.

I don't know. But I think it's more of an "ooooh, new phone" effect than the 6018C actually pushing down the SH9020C. Prices on every Sharp have gone down- the SH9010C is now solidly mid-range, the SH1810C now sits in the lower mid-range, and the SH9020C is finally starting the long descent into mid-range. I predict more people will start buying Sharps like this; they have most other makers beaten (screen- Aquos owns pretty much every other maker, sound, maybe camera, cool factor is kinda subjective).

I just wanted to get all 9020c owners opinion on T9 with this phone? Is it pretty efficient? I'm probably going to put my G1 in the backburner for awhile. I text quite frequently. I like the qwerty keyboard on the G1, but I would rather have a flip phone. I have a 904sh but texting is pretty challenging considering there is no T9.

it seems like Sharp is starting to pick up sales in china. Too bad those price changes don't reflect in our market ><

Yes, I typed all your post above using T9 without going into any problems. There is also a User Dictionary if you want to add in your own words.

It's a great phone. Lack of T9 in Japanese handsets used to drive me mad.

There's only one good reason for lack of T9 in Japanese handsets

The Japanese Mobiles were never designed for use by other people outside of Japan. And when constructing new SMS or mail, most Japanese don't spend the whole time writing the message in english. It's all in Kana.... once in awhile you can throw in a few words that are english lol..... So english t9 is not needed.

However I think a few NEC models have T9 for english But other than that, majority don't have T9 English. I guess time to get you to not having T9???

I think T9 English is a nuisance.... I guess i learned to write mails and SMS on mobile phones before T9 was invented so I already got use to the old system

    It's all good (^_^)

This is the thing, this phone is stupidly expensive on ebay & to get it to the UK costs even more. So with all the 3.5G networks over here paying so much for a 2G phone is what has stopped me considering buying one of these.

...well maybe if you are a super genius with technical skills you could dissect an old w880i and implant its antenna into a 9020c!

If stevetam creates one it'll just be a phone that's a bootleg of every other brand.

I've lurked here for longer than you think. Ask AL9999 or pm me if you're interested.

I had the sharp 903sh for a long time, as well as a904 and sh905i when they were released.

Do people still unlock these with those SIM hacks?

I lived in japan a bit last year and lack of T9 is fine. It is worth me saying though; Japanese also use predictive text but it's much more advanced than T9.

Hypersims are updated on a bi-monthly basis now. Well for me. Since a bunch of carriers think it's funny and fun to release different revisions for sim cards so we strive for the highest compatibility than our competitors.

Hypersims seems to be the only method now.... there's probably other methods but I'm far too lazy to think about it or figure it out Not getting paid enough nor is it a part of my job description
