I was recently thinking of jumping into the smartphone realm and leaving my current phone the lg keybo in the dust. I'm currently looking into purchasing a bb curve however i noticed that the Niagara may be hitting the market sooner rather than later. I just wanted an opinion on whether or not I should wait for the Niagara or just go ahead and get the curve now. Thanks for any input
The curve looks and feels way too outdated IMO. It's been around in the GSM camp for years now... no point buying a phone that is obsolete as soon as you open the box.
Hopefully it comes out before the upgrade offer on my account expires
$70 + GRRF + HST on ROGERS: Unlimited Outgoing & Incoming Local and Long Distance Calling Minutes and Text Messaging from anywhere in Canada to anywhere in Canada & USA, 6GB Data, Call Display, Voicemail (GV), Call Forwarding, Call Waiting, Conference Calling
More memory than the stupid Pearl, Qwerty Keyboard, Rev A, (working) GPS, Wifi, 3.2mp camera, better screen, and hopefully GSM Roaming... sounds like the perfect phone to me. Sign me up!

ur going to get some comments that dont make sense. u have to make this decision for yourself. the cdma bold is set to be a world phone which will put this at the same pricing as the current world phone of 649$ no contract and 300$ on a 3 year (the current pricing of the 8830 is a sale to get rid of the stock to make room for the cdma bold). so ask urself do u need a world phone? can u afford tto dish out 300$ on a 3 year or 649+ tax no contract? i say ur better off getting a used curve now and then when the curve 2 comes out switch to that.
i personally hate the bold the buttons (as usual with blackberries) are all crammed together. I tried typing on that thing and u dont even feel like ur pressing the button. I dont like that I like the feel of the button actually being pressed. I played with the curve 2 and it has a much better feel. I think ull find a lot of people who prefer the curve 2 over the bold.
I'm torn between this or the curve 2. Then again I hope the curve2 will be cheaper than the bold, as I have a $200 credit on my account, but that's only off the NON contract price of the device...

actually from what i've read, it seems this thing will be a cross between the javelin and the bold... ie it will have a more similar form factor to the javelin, complete with the atomic trackball. perhaps even the same keyboard...

Thanks for all the responses but i think im going to buy a used curve now then sell it and upgrade to the curve 2 (8900) when it comes out in the next couple of months. i definitely need a smartphone now.
I'm PRAYING for a Q1 release for the Niagara. February would be amazing, I would be happy beyond words. Official release info cannot come soon enough. *sigh*
Also, I'm kind of antsy about the release of this because I have an L&R offer on my account for a $400 BB discount that expires at the end of March. Do you think they'd renew that or once the 29th of March rolls around, will I be SOL?
