Anyway I played with a Tour over the weekend and I absolutely love the size of it. It feels significantly smaller than even my s640, and the keyboard is golden.

I would totally get this if I was able to transfer over my $15 data plan...
I am in the same boat as you my friend. I am willing to consider a jump to the BB world with this Tour, however I can hear the snickering now when asking TELUS if there will be a way to transfer over that $15 data plan. This is when we are going to see the middle finger coming up with a tattooed "THE FUTURE IS FRIENDLY... EXCEPT IN YOUR CASE *****!".

I also think that this might actually be an issue for TELUS as well, since I would imagine there are a lot of people out there wanting the Tour, but don't want to lose that $15 data plan.

Probably not, as I would think a majority of Tour buyers are existing BBerry users, thus allowing them to keep there $15 unlimited plans.

i agree with this. if ur looking to mvoe to a bb theres no point really to cry for the 15$ plan since u can go over. u should ask for offsetting credits to make it balance out to the same cost.

people that want to leave bb and go to data intensive windows mobile. those people need to worry since they have to worry about going over

The difference is the prerelease one says 3.2 megapixel camera on the back, and the other one doesnt. and the shiny stuff is more shiny.

well that put me off. I hate it when they change phones. screw the tour.

I called into L&R a month ago to ask about getting nationwide telus mobility-telus mobility calling (free for 2 years ) and I asked the guy about my plan.

He said that if I upgrade to a new BlackBerry my $15/month unlimited plan would be safe, but if I moved to a Windows mobile, or Pre, I wouldn't be able to to keep that plan.

I don't know if he was speaking from policy or not, but it's just something I heard.

Yes they are foolishly deleting that plan if you switch to or from a Blackberry.

Way to lose more business, T: if all you have to offer are cheap grandfathered plans, why start scamming us out of those too?

Now I can't even get a BB to tide me over until some decent smartphones *finally* hit TELUS shelves.

My understanding was there was one code for WM devices, and one code for BB devices. Both have been deleted from their systems so if you're migrating from one device to the other, they cannot add the appropriate code for the data. But staying on a similar device shouldn't cause a problem.
But on the plus side, I knocked over the SunSphere.

    Muh Plan:
    300 min
    U/L E&W at 6PM
    U/L Texting
CDN LD @ $0.10 per min
USA LD @ $0.20 per min
    6 GB Data
    U/L Bell to Bell Local
    $50/month with no SAF/911

the codes were added back last i was told butonly if u lost it for some silly reason. they can readd the same code u already had.
so if wm gets kicked off they can give it back to. if bb gets kicked off they can give it back to u. but u cant switch between the 2 which is completely retarded. nevertheless people should wait cuz if they let people switch to hspa with these well it will be mute cuz sim cards they cant pull that crap anymore

They can re-add any rate plan that has ever existed, right back to Clearnet.

They just won't, because they have Organizational Down's Syndrome.

We're still going to have the same problems with HSPA. BlackBerries are always going to require different provisioning in the background. People with the Rogers 6gb plan had the same issues trying to switch the plan from a Blackerry to an iPhone or Windows Mobile phone (and vice versa).

What's this new rumor that the Tour will have a touchscreen a la BB Magnum?
That would be AMAZING! But I kinda doubt it...
Maybe my best friend who just got a job at RIM can shed some light on this...

    Old Talk To Me $25 /100daymin. / unlimited incoming calls / 100 Ldm / free unlim ev/week @6 / free CID VM10 / free 100 text / $15 ul data / $250 off Pearl => $25 + 15 +tax + SAF = $53 or so.

No, not going to happen. There are already final carrier branded versions floating around so we KNOW the features.

This is just someone getting taken for a fool.

We think everyone should be able to afford a wireless phone. That's why we were the first wireless company in North America to offer pay-by-the-second airtime, and why we don't charge an activation fee. NO scary contract to sign. Immediate national coverage. And a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Yes, it's finally time to get a wireless phone.
