In comparison to what other devices? The Iphone 3G doesn't stand up to the Bold with processing speed. Heck the brand new 3G S still doesn't. Furthermore, Iphones can't even run programs in the background.
I will admit that there are other devices out there that are competitive with BB's, so may be even better. But they're few and far between when you look at what BlackBerry's offer. Especially in the corporate/enterprise market.
BB's have definitely lacked in the memory department, and all new devices will have at least 256 for apps. Albeit still a little low. But to portray BlackBerry's as a non-powerhouse is incorrect in my estimation. They offer the best security/encryption of any device around, compatibility with many different exchange servers, have 2nd to none LCD screens. Great keyboards. IMHO, the best push on any mobile device. Great keyboards. They're definitely a contender.
You said it twice, I'll say it again Great keyboard.
I can't seem to get the same speed on my 8800 as i did on my curves. It is just that the buttons are so big! The keyboard is comfortable to type with though. I still think I am about 20% faster on a curve then the bold style keyboards.
and i used to use the same argument for the iphone. but the reality is the iphone can run multiple apps. it just cant run multiple 3rd party apps.
its kind of funny though when u think of it. the 2 most popular phones blackberries and iphones are notorious for overcharging, minor updates per berry so u constantly have to switch. they both just added 3.2 mp cameras within the last 365 days while others are at 5mp phones and going up to 8mp phones
i know im gonna hear the berry is a company phone excuse so save it. i remember bgr's review on the bold he tore the cheap feel apart in the review but anyway screens every company has a phone with a great screen now so no leader there. actually samsung has started the amoled revolution so they leading there.
once nvidia tegra powered devices come im really curious to see the pricing. nevertheless under the hood they are not giving anything revolutionary we still waiting for a palm style touchscreen.
this device brings nothing that others havent brought before fact is the bold with its 1gb internal memory is still their leader. that launched with the cracked up price of 400$ on a 3 year but even that is cheaper now. why is this more expensive? this device is not superior in any single way.
so definitely a ripoff and overcharging. im sorry even the ps3 is 400 total these phones need to get off their cracked prices.
Mr. Riley, i would like to take this time for your devotion in bringing us information for this damned phone and it's retarded prices. BUT we all know we're all getting it regardless of our complaints.

You read the headline right, kids — the new and insanely hot BlackBerry Messenger that we exclusively showed off to the World looks to be headed to all BlackBerry devices that will receive the OS 5.0 treatment. How do we know? Because we’ve been playing around with a recent build of OS 5.0 on a Curve 8900, and well, let’s just say that it and some other pretty awesome stuff is in there. But since we’re talking about BlackBerry Messenger, let’s just get right into it. We’ve already told you that the new Messenger has avatar support, GPS integration (including proximity sensing), the ability to set and group conversations by subject and a way to create a homescreen icon for messenger contracts, but it now looks like even more crazy stuff has been crammed in in addition to a little facelift.
So strap yourselves in, hit the jump and prepare to be green with envy as we show you an even newer version of BlackBerry Messenger!
Since we know that most of you are just going to gloss over the text and check out the ensuing screenshots, we’ll keep the list of what’s newer than new really brief:
* SMS support — You wanted threaded SMS? Well you’re finally going to be getting it!
* PIN barcode scanning — Too lazy to add your friend to Messenger by entering in their PIN? Just have them click the Barcode option on their devices and, you guessed it, a barcode will show up letting the other party scan it with their BlackBerry camera and immediately add that contact to your list.
* Backup/Restore Messenger list to microSD card — What else need we say?

ta ta!
well, with no more news today, I have to pretty much rule out any sort of hope I had for a June 22nd launch. Its only a few days away, and not 1 print advertisment, no Tv advert etc etc etc.....
so i called in, im 15 months too go, and the lady said if i wanted the tour i would be paying full price with 150 off, so 500, this was just a customer service rep not lnr, on a side note she did say it would make more sense to wait till 2010 when the new network was up and that i would get a good deal on a new phone
I'm in the same boat. Contract expires in 15 months, and I want the Tour.
It would be cheaper for me to port to Rogers and get the 8900 than to pay for the Tour outright...
Right now I have the Pearl, spend ~$100 a month, client since 2005 and absolutely hate the Pearl.
