blah i think everyone should just wait a week or more to buy theirs and make it the worst launching of BB for telus yet to just to protest the outrages price on the tour
yea i can get it fixed in about a half hour at the Telus place for $50 but i hate this phone and don't wanna spend money on it. When it stops scrolling all i have to do is flip it on its face and shake the pad down so it pops out a bit and its fine....LOL
You can get a new trackball for like $5. It takes about 1 minute to do the swap. You can also get different coloured ones too.

im fully aware of the actual cost of the purchase and replacement of a trackball, but this is what i was quoted. Anything over $1 is too much to spend on this phone anyway.
The trackball on the Tour is the same design as on the Bold. To clean or replace, it's not as easy as it is on the Curve. For the Tour, you have to actually take the back off the phone, and unscrew 3 screws on each side (so 6 in total) and then pry the phone apart. You'll also have to be conscious about where the water damage sticker is. So it's a bigger chore than compared to the Curve.
I've never owned a blackberry before, but is a dirty trackball a very common thing?

Yes dirty trackballs are very common. I heard that it's a PITA to change on the Tour which is unfortunate.

Well that just sucks. And yes dirty trackballs are a common thing. Not just for blackberries. Theres a reason why mice dont have balls anymore.
