so heres a very big deciding factor for me..............
I have the $15 unlimited data plan. If I switch to HSPA when it comes out, will I lose that plan?
if so, I will buy the tour the day it comes out, because that plan is too valuable to me. IF I can keep the plan on HSPA, then I will wait an extra couple of months for the new network.
does anyone know?
I'm gonna guess Riley would have some good info on this.........

data plans will not be grandfathered to the hspa network. so this plan will be gone. voice plans will be honoured.

therefore u can head out for that tour
Thanks Riley! tour it is. which seems like a waste of money, just because it has no big differences over my current Curve...............but I'm a sucker for new toys.

i disagree. better screen, more powerful. access to the new o.s. and the new bbm when it becomes available. wont lag when u have more than 4gb of stuff on ur memory card. nicer and its a world phone if u travel.

Do you know this for sure? This is one thing that I'm wondering about too. I have an 8gb card full of mp3's on my Curve and it lags on a fresh re-boot. I would like to get a 16gb (or 32gb when they become available) for the Tour, but won't bother if it's going to have the same lag as the Curve.

actually i dont know this for sure. to me its logical since the curves had to get an o.s. update if im not mistaken to go above 4gb. maybe we should go in the rogers forum and post this question...
I have noticed that the lag has been less as the newer versions of 4.5 have been coming out. It's still there, but it doesn't seem as bad. Or maybe it's all in my head and I'm just getting used to it.

i have a 8gb card that im using less than half cuz it lags its so annoying. the new o.s. better fix this crap
I can upgrade to the Tour, most likely keeping my $15 data plan, but the phone won't be compatible with the new network (coming in Q1). I can most likely keep my $15 data plan if I upgrade, but I shouldn't get to used to it, because that $15 data plan won't be available on the new network. My current voice plan should be.
This is a tough one for me. I want to see what new phones are on the horizon for the new network, because, as I understand it, the new network will offer faster speeds and other enhancements. But if I buy the Tour when it comes out, I'll be renewing my contract for 2 or 3 years to get it at a decent price.
That's 24 months. I don't know when Telus's Q1 is, but I read that it's cutting it close to the games, so maybe Sept-Dec ? That's only a few months away.
I dunno now. I don't want to lose my $15 data plan, but I'm coming up for renewal soon, and I want to test the waters. I don't think my usage is more than 1G month, so I may not be that worse off for going to a new HSPA plan.
Sure, I can get the Tour and wait 2 years before renewing on a HSPA phone. There's something to be said for early adopters though.
What to do... what to do... especially if the iPhone is on the horizon. I've wanted it since it came out, and even considered switching to Rogers to get it.
Guess all I can do is wait a few months and see what happens.

telus q1 is january as far as i know. therefore if u renew and get the tour ull have a year or 2 with a cheaper data plan before u may want a new phone again and try and renew at that time u can look at switching to the new network
I have the Bold but I gave it to my gf and an 8 gig card works with no lag. I believe OS 4.6+ fixed this. I can confirm that the Blackberry Tour supports media cards of up to 32 gb. For example, on my Tour with OS 4.7.0.151 Hybrid, no lag whatsoever and loading pictures is like never before however with the Telus 4.7.0.73 & 4.7.0.122 there was much lag. When I would open up my Pictures, the thumbnails would load slowly 1 by 1. On the Bold this is not an issue and my friend has the Curve 8900 and also not an issue.

Yep I would say do it. Q1 is anywhere between January 1 - March 31st. Maybe Telus then will make offers for clients at least 6 months into their contract to migrate to HSPA equipment however do not expect full discount for renewal to migrate. You can expect like 150$ - 200$ discount on renewal I would guess...

Wow, that's a huge disappointment.
Any idea if they are going to offer current $15 data folks a special plan for HSPA? Contract is up in April. Debating getting the Tour now or resigning once the new network launches.
