I work at Future Shop, and I thought I'd check to see if it is in our system and It was... The price is $599.99 and there was also another SKU... I think it was for 3yr and the price is $229.99... What shocked me was that Bell is also launching it and the price for that unit is $699.99... Don't know why such difference!!!
Well Bell typically charges more that Telus for the full MTM price. For example the Storm is 699$, the Samsung Omnia is $549$, the Pearl Flip is 499$, the Curve is 549$, the Touch Diamond is 499$. All these are 50-100$ differences. The only smartphone device they offer at a cheaper MTM price is the Touch Pro.
I dont understand why people have such a tough time understanding that wifi is a GOOD/important thing to have.
Not everyone has unlimited data. There are so many hot spots/open wireless connections, you could get away with using your data plan very little. What about traveling? Roaming fees suck, even if you have unlimited data, this doesn't save you. So when your down in the states somewhere, all you need is a wireless connection and boom your set.
I'm going to Mexico next month, and the resort has free wireless in the lobby. Would be great if I could get away with just bringing a BB for my e-mailing and not worry about extra charges.
if you never leave canada, and got a great plan with unlimited data, then yes wifi is useless to you, but for everyone else, i think we could benefit from it.

Wifi gives the user of the phone a secondary option for data connection. Anything that gives the consumer choice and options, the better. After giving considerable thought about which data phone to purchase in the next coming months, I've decided to wait for the HSPA network. The price on the BB Tour is just insane and not justifiable. It's pretty much a repackaged mashed up BB Storm and BB 8900. There are other smartphones out there that pack better features and have much more power processors than the BB Tour. No touch screen, no wifi are deal breakers considering I'll be paying for the phone outright. There is nothing special that stands out.

someone who uses their phones heavily, and does not travel, does not need or want wifi. I cant even imagine having to search for 'open hotspots' to check or send an email, use the web etc etc... When you need to use google maps when ur lost, send an important email, check something out online, or just to use social networking, u want to do it NOW, not when you find a hotspot.

Considering most people travel with netbooks and notebooks, just use those with the wifi available at your hotel and you're all set.
I pretty much agree....... Without NA GSM ability, no WIFI or HSPA, the Tour is starting to look more and more like a hyped up Curve with a bit more memory. I'm not sure it's worth the extra cost above the Curve????? All the waiting and waiting and now...........

Interesting perspectives on the Tour. I have to agree with Ricktye, that its limitations are starting to sway me toward waiting for a HSPA and wifi capable device. The form factor of the Tour certainly is appealing. I was leaning heavily in favor of going back to full QWERTY from SureType (8130). I like small but I like functional too.
The big question then is:
When will "Telusers" get access to an unlocked, HSPA, wifi capable BB??
One would think that once HSPA is up and commercially available that this should be the case, assuming SIM portability and unlocked devices are supported. Certainly blocking wifi is a plus to Telus but so is reducing or eliminating hardware subsidies by creating an 'open' network where people can BYOD (bring your own device).
