    Iphone 4

    RangerMaverix,

I know the constant hacking and jailbreaking and unlocking can be tedious, plus you can never update the phone to get the cool new features. But thats what factory unlocked iphones are for IOS 4.3 is gonna have a few cool updates for GSM iphones too... Like wifi hotspot and sms ring alerts and a few other bug fixes as well. I bet using an android on a imac and macbook pro is different to say the least. Have both as well, syncing to iphone couldn't be any easier. Hopefully the iphone 5 will be sold factory unlocked in the United States. Saw the new add for verizon iphone. Two is better than one. How about about everyone is better than one. How cool would it be to buy an iphone from Viaero?

Face time with iphone 4 on Viaero

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows how to activate face time on the iphone 4 using Viaero. Or if they even allow that. I know it has to be over wifi and i have a reliable connection for wifi. I also have the data plan too. But it would be helpful if anyone know if it can be activated. I went to the face time menu on my phone and turned it to on. It take forever saying awaiting activation. Its not a do or die feature I want but I was kind of curious to see if Viaero allows it. Any info would help.

    Thanks

My brother lives in Nebraska and has service with Viaero. He is off on a cruise with a stop in the Bahamas. I warned him that he should call Viaero to be sure of the costs of any calls placed or received while on the cruise ship or in the Bahamas. He later told me that he called Viaero and was told that incoming calls were free but outgoing calls cost from $2.00 up, depending on the ship or country his was visiting. SMS are $0.60 each. Now, I couldn't believe that incoming calls would be free but he insisted that's what he was told. There is no information (that I could find) about international or cruise ship roaming, except for Canada and Mexico, on Viaero's website.

Has anyone here actually roamed overseas or on a cruise ship with Viaero? What was your experience? Thanks!

The iPhone requires the WiFi connection to do facetime. I have friends on the 3G ATT service and they still require WiFi to use it. It is something that will more than likely require a newer iPhone to work over the network or you can jailbreak it work on 3G.

I am always hacking them for other people to make them work and it gets old. I have never had problems with mine and then I switched to Android phones to make my life easier. I am thinking about the iphone 5g. That should be pimp.

We usually tell people to get prepaid sim cards in the area they are traveling too if its out of the country, etc. That way you just pop in their sim card and you only occur the fees they charge, instead of international rates on our end.

Theres an app on the Android called Tango, that will allow people to use facetime via wifi on our network. Can't remember if that app is avaliable or no on the iphone. Otherwise I believe Fring works on the iPhone.

Right. That's my advice too, but,
    1) They don't have prepaid cards for cruise ships and
    2) A one day stop in the Bahamas does not warrant tracking down a Bahamas prepaid SIM.
    3) Most international prepaids are currently broken.
However, if they believe that incoming calls are free and accept all their incoming calls, just to get hit with a huge roaming bill, there will be great wailing and gnashing of teeth. I tried to tell my brother that I didn't believe that overseas roaming incoming calls would be free but he just told me that's what they told him. If they are really free, I think I'll sign up with Viaero.

    Viaero and tethering

Does anyone know if Viaero allows tethering. My iphone just got an update and now allows it to connect up to five devices via wifi or 3 via bluetooth or 1 via usb. I cant seem to find the personal hotspot feature on my iphone. So I am assuming that its not the 4.3 update. Just the fact that viaero does not support it. If they don't, is there any chance that in the near future when the update hits that they will have tethering option? Im considering getting a wifi ipad so it would really do the trick. Especially when are home speed internet is fast but the wireless update is for viaero is going to be much faster than the 1.0mbps that our wifi home network is. Are there gonna be any price changes for the data pak as well? $39.99 seems a little steep now the verizon has unlimited for $30 and its 3G/"3.5G". If anyone has any ideas or suggestions to these questions go feel free to reply.

When I had my iPhone I had to go into cydia, download a tetering hack, then create a profile on the phone and it worked fine. That was all before the 4.0 update though. Then when 4.0 came out, tethering was a stock option on the phone and it worked great!! There are changes in the data packs. You either pay 14.95 for unlimited local data (no messaging) or you pay 39.95 for unlimited nationwide data (with messaging). Hope that helps a little bit..
