Samsung Rant Latest Firmware (1/20/09) Problems??

I installed the latest firmware update and have been experiencing a freezing issue with the lock screen (blue screen with time and date). Every time I try to unlock the phone it is frozen on the blue screen and I need to press the back button again to unfreeze. Anyone else experiencing this after installing the latest firmware update?

I have the same problem.
The only solution I found is to disable "key guard" - thus preventing locking.
SPrint denies this issue and tried to suggest that I "broke" the phone and wanted me to send one for repair (even though it started only after lastest firmware upgrade).
Any ideas what to do?

anyone with recharging issues after the upgrade to new firmware and software?
I am on my 2nd rant in 3 days and it seems to tell me its finished charging (very quickly) and when i unplug it the battery life begins to fall and will go down to half within an hour of doing almost nothing.

What does your version info screen show for the latest software and firmware versions? I think I trashed the browser trying to install an update since it freezes, locks up, and soft resets to the main menu. When I tried to update now it states no update available. It appears everything e-mail, instant msg works but not the browser. What is supposed to be the latest versions?

i just got a brand new rant...the battery is silver in color. The manager at the branch said that they just recieved these and that they've been updated. This phone has no issues that my prior 2 rants had.

My version info is the same except I had a line:

H:m540.04 which is the hardware version I think . Also my battery is black in color

I received my rant new on 1/20/09 directly from Sprint not in a store. The browser stopped working on 2/6/09.

What does your version screen show for H:?

Sorry i left that out. Mine is also - H:M54.04
Try to do a hard reset? You will loose all ur settings and #'s though...

settings > more...> security.
Your security code is the last 4 digits of your phone number.

You could of course take it to your sprint store and ask them for help too, and they can probably back up your phone contacts too - settings will still be lost. You're within your 30 days and could probably get a replacement if necessary. Is your battery silver and black in color or just entirely black?

i have the same problem with the screen locking up. 2 phones same problem i think its mechanical(switch), i slide the phone to unlock it sometimes the screen locks and displays the upper icons in both planes when the screen should have rotated. wear and tear

that happend with the first two rants i had too. the only thing that seemed to really clear it up was pressing the "end" hang up button and the screen will refresh and catch up.

the new one i have hasnt shown that issue...or any other issue i've read on these boards.

I got my Rant on 1/10 from BB. I have not done any updates. The problems I have been having are: sometimes doesn't unlock after I press * back, sometimes doesn't rotate when I slide out the keyboard, sometimes shuts off when I plug the charger in, one time I had both screens when I slide it open...that's all I can think of right now. I figure they are normal for the Rant and haven't bothered switching them out. Tuesday will be 30 days and now I'm wondering if I should've got the Instinct instead!

i noticed i cause the problem when i do it to fast, my phone also shuts off sometimes when i plug it in. i charge mine with everything computer, cable box, anything with a usb port. that little cable they gave us is a great thing, except i dont know what i did with the charger from lack off use.

its too bad that cable doesnt really help us xfer things off and on the microsd card...lol.
but sure its handy.
Mine's still doing pretty well.

ive been using the card reader, i just tried the cable. when i select connect to pc in tools-mass storage -connect to pc, removable disk (f pops up. no more card reader!

Ah yes, with all the times i've rolled through the menu's i've never paid attention to that. Thanks.
I only wish disabling NAI on this phone was easier...
