My fear realized. Have been overseas for a couple of months monitoring this thread. Returned last night to socal, popped my tmobile sim back into my n1, and data is a no-go on any of the apns. Knew that n1's days were numbered based on other users reports.

Of the smartphones on the wiki page - do any have issues with usb tethering/setting up mobile wifi-hotspot with tzones? I've never exceeded the 5gb throttle cap, but tethering is pretty important, as I frequently have to set up impromptu wifi-hotspots for my team and I. Any models to stay away from?

No more tzone? This is ridiculous. I still love my nexus one dearly. I've bought tons of accessories for it and have everything set up the way I like but I refuse to pay $20/mo for data plan only to have a 5gb cap vs my unlimited 5.99 tzone right now. Now that I started searching for a compatible replacement phone, I find that I would have to pay a fortune for a newer generation phone only to find out it prolly has a ******** speakerphone quality, no trackball, no trackball LED msg notifications. All the things I love about the N1 are gone and I have to pay more money?!

Anyone got a good suggestion for a n1 replacement phone which works on Tzone? (Yes I read the wiki, but I'm looking for real reviews like speakerphone loudness compared to the n1)

    TIA

After two weeks you have to take a refurbished phone? That's ridiculous.

My internet (T-Zones) stopped working a few ways ago on my Nexus1 (unbranded) and Galaxy II (T-Mobile branded).

    Area: Atlanta, Chicago and Nashville.

    Anyone else?

I think just about everyone else with a nexus one on tzone. Seems WAP.VOICESTREAM.COM is now officially blocked for the n1

After going off and on hold for ten minutes I was told "We're out of the Nokia, we're replacing your phone with an Android phone." I told them "I don't want an Android phone. I want the Nokia." They told me "Nope, sorry and you really need to do the exchange now or you might get stuck." The girl was almost begging me to swap out my phone and I told them no.

If you go to the website, there's nothing that says "out of stock" for the Nokia anywhere. Do these people get commission for tricking you out of your data plan?
If you are only 2 weeks into it, you should be able to do a return, and then re-purchase a new phone.
btw, what is an "air pocket" under the screen?

Anyone have any info on HTC One S or HTC One X being compatible? I see it is for sale in Germany already, the unlocked version.

After checking around and asking some friends, I think I'm going with the Nexus S. According to the wiki, I should be seeking the i9023 model of the Nexus S. I have four questions about the phone:

    1. Can anyone confirm that this is the one sold in the Indian market (according to gsmarena).
    2. I looked for it on ebay, and a search for "i9023" yields results for the "Nexus GT i9023". Is the Nexus GT same as the Nexus S?
    3. According the wiki, the Nexus S runs Android 2.3.7, but ebay has the Nexus GT i9023 running ics. Can the i9023 run ics and not limited to gingerbread?
    4. Does anyone have the Nexus S (i9023) and using it on tzones?

Thanks to all you phone experts in advance.

I have been using tzone on my new 9023 for about a week now. Works great. Love the new ICS too. I would never wanna go back to my old N1 with GB. If u can't find 9023 for a good price, I'd suggest go with galaxy nexus.

Nexus GT-i9023 is the model number for international nexus s.

From what I've gathered the One X does not have Tmobile 3G/4G bands. The black One S doesn't have Tmobile 3G/4G bands. Not sure about the International Grey One S which happens to be one the One coming to Tmobile.

Sent from my HTC Incredible S using HowardForums

This is sort of the wrong place to ask this, but I don't see anything in the wiki and I am betting someone here can help me. I haven't gotten subsidized phones in a long time so I am out of the loop.

I have a very old grandfathered $49.99 family plan, and like pretty much everyone in this thread I have text and data features I got through Loyalty. I've been out of contract for at least four years so I am obviously qualified for subsidized upgrades with a 2-yr contract renewal.

If I want to use those subsidies on new phones but I don't want to touch my plan, what are my options? I am guessing calling in or going to a T-Mo retail store are the safest options. T-Mo's website would probably work too.
What about 3rd party retailers like Costco, Amazon, etc? If I try to do a renewal with them, will they force me onto a "current" plan?
    Thanks for any help.

don't call or go to store. they will add a data plan for you, almost guaranteed.
safest best is actually the tmobile website.
i wouldn't do amazon - i did an upgrade with them once and my tzones was knocked off. i had to call and beg for them to readd it back to my account.
not sure about costco but it may be the same as amazon.

Thanks for weighing in. I do have the $20 Android preferred data plan that I had to add after my web2go died on the N1. I got it from Loyalty but that's a "current" feature so I am not too worried about losing it. I would assume that if I called Loyalty again they could process an upgrade without changing my voice plan.

But why would he (or Tmo for that matter) replace the phone because of that? Just replace the screen protector and be done with it.
