So basically the built in tether option in the nexus is no good to use?

Does it have to be the canadian version of the amaze? I found a few locally and on ebay, but all say north american version. Just wondering if it matters, just want to make sure it has a ROM on it that will work in the states on Tmobile.

Anybody else having issues with their galaxy nexus purchased from google?
Did T-Mobile actually stop the other cellphones from tethering. Or did they just send a text message to your cellphone saying to sign up? Since you received that message, if someone did try to tether from a pc, they would likely get the upgrade message from the browser of the pc.

I don't think this has anything to do with your IMEI number.

Yes it needs to be a foreign version. The T-Mobile branded version of the Amaze will not work on tzones.

Are there any known issues with using the HD2 and HD7 with Android?

When i took my HD2 in for repair, the tech guy said that it was probably running android on the phone and i explained that the phone screen stopped working way before i load it on there and only loaded to see if it was software related. But that got me thinking, if i should even for another HD2 or HD7 and swap over to Android OS. I mean the cost difference is worth going that route, but not if im only going to get short use of the phone.

The Canadian version is hard to find on Ebay. Negrielectronics has the Telus Canada version for 498.50.

The thing is, T-Mobile never sent me any txt, my coworkers never used my connection on anything other than a cellphone, and my coworkers never got that upsell message on their phones when using my connection.

    What could've prompted this?

So when does the tethering upsell message show up and on what device? You said it didn't show up on the coworkers phones. Did it show up on your phone when you were just using data? Or when you, yourself, had another device tethered to your phone? Was any function blocked after the message block appeared?

When I've received the message, I would receive a text message saying that I was blocked and the text would contain a link to a screen similar to what you posted. If I continued to try to tether with a pc browser, it would take the pc to an upsell screen as well.

The message shows on my phone which is a galaxy nexus purchased directly from google about a couple weeks back.

However, after doing some further testing I realized that after toggling the option "Request Desktop site" in the stock browsers menu, I get that message.

Can some body test out my theory with their galaxy nexus, try to request desktop site and see if you get that same upsell message.
