for MMS I used just the factory settings.. epc.tmobile.com, etc etc..

However.. I changed the name of it from T-mobile US to T-mobile US-MMS

then down at the bottom where it says APN type.. you type in "mms".. all in lower case letters..

Now simply make a new APN... with the settings

    Name T-mobile US
    APN internet2.voicestream.com
APN Type "default" (all lower case again)

I had an interesting experience this week. Long time customer with a G1 w/Android Data and 4 other lines with T-Zones on them. Three of those other lines are running hacked iPhones. I called in becasue I had a 3500 minute plan and wanted to get a plan with less minutes because I will not be using anywhere near those minutes going forward.

In order to downgrade to one of the current plans with 1500 minutes, they told me I would lose the T-Zones and would have to go with the current $10/month internet instead on the other lines. I told the rep I was running hacked iphones on those other lines and he said it would be fine. The money saved from dropping to 1500 minutes makes up for the extra $4/moth on the data so I have them make the switch (I also dropped T-Zones from one line that was not usinging it to make up for the increased cost).

Once they make the switch, T-Mobile cuts off data to the 3 iPhones and they keep getting a "You must upgrade" screen. I call in and they tell me I need to upgrade to a $30/month data plan for the iPhones!! I point out that if I did that I would actually end up paying more for the 1500 minute plan than I was for the 3500 and if that had been made clear I never would have made the switch.

At that point I told them to take me back to where I started and they do, but the lady gives me a big lecture on how she is doing this as a favor becasue I should not be running iPhones on T-Zones. That T-Zones is really a "phone first" plan and that the iPhone usues way more data than that plan was designed for, but she was going to let me get away with it becasue I am a "good customer" and went through all this trouble (there additonal issues unrelated to the T-Zones). This lady was in Retentions as I was so mad I was ready to eat the ETF and go, so she was alos able to downgrade me to a 2500 minute plan and keep everything else the same, which is all I wanted to do at the beginning of my week long ordeal.

So, hang onto the T-Zones if you have them and just be aware that they cut off my iPhones on the $10 plan, and this rep said I was "getting way" with running the iPhones on my restored T-Zones.

You may not have known you need to change the APN to internet2.voicestream.com to use the iPhone on the $10 plan. If you had done so, the iPhones would have worked fine on the $10 plan.

Thanks, I did not know that. I had been running the iPhones for a long time now and was upfront with the rep about it when he made the initail switch, so being told I needed to upgarde to a $30/month plan made me pretty mad and I did not even think to search to see if their was a solution for the $10 plan. And besides, the rep told me it would work.

And in the end keeping the T-Zones and getting downgraded to the 2500 minute plan worked out for the best, it just took a week to get there and I was a little taken back by the "lecture" over using T-Zones for the iPhones. But I geuss listening to that is a small price to pay for cheap data plans!

Just want to report that 5.99 tzone does in fact work very well with my nexus one on 3g speed. Only problem is the nexus one has reception problems when indoors (keeps switching from 3g to edge). Other than that, I'm very very happy with tzone and the n1. The n1 might just be the best phone one can get on tzone at this point. Kinda like touch pro 2 is the best phone they can get on sero plan for sprint customers.

Does anyone know if the new samsung galaxy phones work well with tzone?

I am on a family plan with 5 lines. One of them has the Tzone.
I am looking at the Even More plan because of the $5/additional line, so I could save a few bucks.

Is the $10 Even More Unlimited Web Plan the same as Tzone? I mean will it run 3G speed on Nexus one?

Actually - TMO asked me to switch to the Web2Go plan and offered it to me for $5.00 vs. $5.99 that I had and the $5.00 (discounted for longtimers) did not work on windows mobile phone so i called them up and reverted to the Tzones. I tried using internet2 and internet3 but no dice. I had the same upgrade notice. So it seems like they are able to detect this possibly via browser agent IMO. I was able to revert it with no issues.
As this thread mentions keep your T-Zones if you can.
BTW does anyone know why this does not work on Android (TMO branded)?

same reason why att has iphones on lock about using their cheap $15 data or $10 data plans.. more money. everyone wants to get the nice new phones and to get them, thats what they have to shell out for.

but i think their official reason is because its a phone that uses a lot of data so that is why hah

thats very weird that it did not work on a windows mobile phone. been using it on a Touch Pro 2, web2go that is, with internet2 apn. i actually switch back and forth, the other phone as i always like to throw out there to possibly get more interests and devs to get it for this sole reason... the only tmobile branded android phone that allows the use of these cheap plans... Samsung Behold 2

Here's my speed on my Nexus tethered to my laptop on T-Zone. Wireless tethering (wifi) if I may add.

I'm getting roughly the same speed as you (see sig) with wireless tethering (wifi) on my Nexus One through T-Zone's. There should be no difference across the T-Mobile data plans in terms of speed. The only differing factor should be the hardware (phone) you're using.
