I tried using my friend's sim card and settings. Overall, the internet wasn't that much faster, but I could watch youtube videos on youtube mobile. I'm gonna ask him again next week so I can try out the internet for my laptop.

I've tried settin it up with my laptop, and I got it to work once, but I may have altered the settings, but when it was working all I could check was my email. I couldn't look at any web pages or send email.

My friend is payin 19.99. He said it's pretty much the sidekick data plan without texting for a unbranded device. I would like to see if I could get that also.

And lastly, do you think tmobile will let me get the 9.99 unlimited texting for families so I can cut the cost since I'm already paying 19.99 for it?

And I am using a Samsung Pixon.
I thought the $2.99 T-zone (old voicestream plan with 300 SMS) is unlimited?

Just "T-Zones". My sim card was in a Nokia 5310 and she did not ask for my IMEI. Weird thing is that it shows some other Nokia on my T-Mobile account. Just try it again, it might take a few try's. Rwfanatic are you on Flex-Pay?

Soh, I would stick with the TZones plan, you are already getting the max speed you can with our phone, since we don't have the US 3G bands, you can't get any faster than EDGE which is part of TZones. I have it set where I can watch youtube with my phone through tzones as well, you just have to have 2 settings for internet set up, as I have EPC only for the data stuff, and the wap one for the browser (It seems a bit faster for surfing the web) ideally you can just use the epc apn for both but that's up to you.

One warning with the epc.tmobile.com apn with your laptop. It will compress images. Good side of that, if your on the slower gprs network, the pages can load faster. The bad side of that, if your on 3g or edge, you may not want your images compressed. You can change the compression settings by going to http://2.2.2.2/ in your browser on your laptop.

It is a closed feature, not a promo code.

Behavior such as tricking a company in to providing a service at a lower cost than it can viably provide the service for is what causes companies to go "big and evil". If your collective goal is to force TMO in to controlled Verizon-like environment with higher prices, closed smart phones, limited options ect then keep manipulating the system to get features at prices you don't qualify for. Those prices are for LOYAL customers who've had the service all-along. You are hurting them as well.

Thanks for the heads up and the help. I have another question. Is it possible to email from our email accounts? I have checked out this page: http://www.gruups.com/tzones/

and tried following the myemail.t-mobile.com directions for smtp server, etc. but I cannot get it to work, the same with the usual smtp server address from my provider. So far when I messed with these settings, all i can get is incoming mail and no outgoing.

You should be able to use the epc apn for email using your normal servers. No need for myemail.t-mobile.com. I wouldn't use that. Needless. Check if your outgoing server needs ssl or tls (Security type) or that the port number is right. Is it a free or commercial email account (like comcast, verizon, gmail, yahoo mail?) There is usually a security setting for outgoing. Each one may be different. If it's a popular email provider, someone here or me might be able to tell you the settings for your phone/client/computer. (Whatever you use to send email.)

Got a berry flip on hand but am using the Moto Renew since its got 0 carbon footprint and made of 100% recycled water bottles... Cant beat helping the environment while using a phone... Battery life is amazing on it as well with mem card slot for loading mad music onto music player! Low price, helps environment, and great battery/sound quality... Cant go wrong!"

Saw a commercial on this this morning. Can someone explain to me how they use recycled bottles to make solder and electronics? This is 100% false advertising!

Wait, some guy told you it was made of water bottles, you believed him and transposed his words on to the commercial?

FYI, the $5.99 data rate only works with dumbphones anyway. It will eventually get removed if you use it with the G1 and t919/t929 phones.

As long as there's no unbranded AWS phones and T-mo starts pumping out fewer UMTS basic phones and more "smartphones" the more dead ended $5.99 will be. Looking back I half wished I signed up for Total Internet when it was $20 and had Wi-fi free.

5.99 works ok on s60.... ( donot how long)
I had 20 $ internet since 2003 and changed to VPN plan.. when they had lowered the price in 07..

However, in Oct 2008, when I added the 5.99 plan to other 2 lines.. CSR/system without MY CONSENT flipped to APN2 plan.

I had to pester CSR for explanation, but never got hot spots back...

I have ticket opened since Nov 08, and will wait till April /May , when belt tightening for Data occurs, then swim to ATT.
