    blackberry push email problem/question

For months, email to username@alltel.blackberry.com has shown up nearly instantly on my phone.

After a weekend BB network outage in the area, emails sent directly to the BIS address are taking 2 to 15 minutes. Alltel tells me push email takes 20 minutes?

Isn't email to username@alltel.blackberry.com suppose to be near instant?

(Keep in mind we are talking about messages sent directly to the BIS address, not polling IMAP, POP, etc)

got escalated past Alltel all the way to RIM. It took 4 minutes for even a BB PIN message to show up. RIM says it is a network issue with Alltel.

Alltel still tells me 20 minutes. How is a PIN instant message suppose to be 20 minutes?

    I am peeved.

I am having the same issue, Alltel claims its the phone (on my third one now) finally someone escalated my issue to RIM, multiple calls to them have yielded nothing, some of my messages today took an hour to deliver! Also Blackberry messenger delays, something is hosed royally and no one seems to be able to figure out what or they ain't saying. I'm with you I am beyond fed up with this. I guess I will have to waste another hour of my day tomorrow on the phone with Alltel/RIM and see WTF I can figure out. Any insight posted or PM'd would be great!!!

Also I posted HERE about this issue before

I've been dealing with this for days and spent hours on the phone.

    My situation:

In NW Florida. Total Blackberry network outage for everyone on Saturday. Slow delivery of pushed email to xxxx@alltel.blackberry.com that is suppose to be near instant Sun, Mon & Tues. Another 7 hour total Blackberry network failure in this part of the country on Wed. Pushed email returned to normal speed Wed night.

By Thurs AM, back to slow pushed email, ranging from 2 to 40 minutes, averaging about 8-12. Same thing on Friday.

Alltel said push email takes up to 20 minutes. Bull. It might take up to 20 (actual poll time is 15) on POP/IMAP, but @alltel.blackberry.com should be under 30 seconds or even instant.

Got sent to RIM Tech support. RIM confirmed pushed email was taking 10-15 minutes. PIN messages were taking 5-10 minutes. They finally determined that the phone was "out of service" or something like that...essentially dropping off the network.

This behavior has been confirmed on my wife's BB and at least a dozen other people I've talked to along the Gulf Coast.

RIM said to open trouble ticket with Alltel. Alltel still refused because they said PIN & push could take up to 20 minutes. Again, bull.

Alltel finally opened a trouble ticket.

    I've so peeved.

I have hours invested into this issue also, I have had a range of fixes/explanations from RIM and Alltel, Something changed for the worse a few weeks ago, my email host supports Enhanced integration of webmail accounts with RIM which by RIM's admission gives me realtime email delivery (see here)

Since I have had my curve I have had mail delivered in a minute or less but not now

Another tell tale sign something is hosed is delivery and read confirmations on Blackberry messenger are delayed and BBM has been very unreliable

RIM sent me a PIN test message also and I never received it until I opened browser
Its almost like phone disconnects from Data and randomly reconnects and messages come flooding in. I am fixing to call RIM for another dose of WTF!

It does seem that way. I can load something in the browser or send a PIN or email and boom! There comes the flood of messages.

I verified while home for lunch PIN messages are not received for at least 15 minutes using two Curves side by side with full signal

Co-worker saw on the news that Alltel had a BB network meltdown but all I could find was this brief article from N FL

I know some will disagree, but being divested, I am just resigned to having whacky issues with my phone! I mean we are neither here nor there. We are not on anyone's priorty list atm. This is why I am anxious for someone to come on in here!

Last night I was on the phone for 2 hrs 20 minutes with Alltel and RIM, bottom line is my device goes dormant with its data connection and doesn't continuously poll the network for incoming messages and no one knows why, they got it working last night by switching my account from BB data to simple data and then back again however doing this made me lose all HTML email availablity. So I resent service books and nothing changed, I logged into BIS and deleted and re added my emails and that fixed the HTML issue but re established the Data issue but to a lesser degree. Anyway Tech said the Atlanta hub had a meltdown and thats what was responsible for our major outage from last week and would also explain why data is hosed for us in the lower southeast as we are routed through that hub. I guess time and patience will be the only thing to resolve this as I am exhausted working on it with the powers.

It's entirely possible you have a defective phone. Have you discussed the possibility of doing a warranty exchange?

Another thing to try if you notice it acting up is to go into the device's Manage Connections menu and turn off all connections - then, wait about 30 seconds, and turn them on again. I've had a few instances where I wasn't getting data - and even battery pulls didn't help - but cycling connections from the menu got things going again.

If he has a defective phone, I have two that both immediately began the same problem at the same time a dozen other people in my area began having the same problem.

I can come up with 14-15 Blackberrys in two SIDS in Alabama and Florida with the same issue that began at the same time.

Both of my phones are pushing email 2-20 minutes late. A gmail account that was polling email every 2-20 minutes has not polled in 30 HOURS.

Alltel says it is RIM, RIM says is Alltel. I say I want an Iphone.
